Autoshop was going to charge me 2, 000 dollars to replace all 4 struts...225 dollars per strut...i went on amazon and purchased all 4 complete strut assemblies for 225 dollars and maybe 200 dollars for tools that i can keep. I think i like that better. :)

Now that's how you do a fix-it video, quick and to the point.  At least for me.  Needed a quick visual to get me prepared and this did the trick.  Will be spending just over a grand on 4 struts/shocks for my newly acquired '94 Mazda 929 cause you can only get them OEM but at least I won't be paying for install.  Thanx for the awesome vid Scotty.

Wow your videos are so short but so to the point that I feel confident in doing these jobs after a 3 minute video. Thank you Scotty

If they are worn or cracked, yes. Especially on front struts. But on these back struts, the mounts don't move like the front wheels turn in and out, so often you can reuse them.

Hey Scott. Great video, very helpful.
I've replaced my rear struts only days ago but it continues to make a horrid clunking noise. When I inspected the large nut near the top hat there is a little metal plate underneath that rattles up and down when the car's in motion. Seems to be the source of the noise but I can't crank it down for the life of me! Is there meant to be a rubber bushing or something of the likes in between the nut and this little plate to keep it from moving around?

Nice video Scotty! The video title made me think of that exact car, before the video even started playing! Just put some new rear struts and springs on my friend's '96 Geo Prizm not too long ago...he has over 200k miles on it. The rear end was sagging and the wheels were bouncing down the road like basketballs! Other than wear and tear items, the Toyotas of the 90's are pretty bulletproof vehicles and simple to work on.

Hi Scotty, this is again a nice video. My car does not bounce like the car in the video, but when ever it come across a bump, "don don" sounds come from the rear wheels. Do you think my car needs rear struts to be replaced? Thanks!

since you're throwing the old stut away, you can lock the piston from spinning use large vice grip pliers.

check the fan to make sure it's blowing air good on the radiator. If it's good, low refrigerant level does that too.
