Was always a quiet kid in school but I remember people asking me how I was able to just get lost in thought or "zone out" in any situation that was normally.... Boring. I've never know. I just don't mind boredom. If I'm bored and can't do anything I sit quietly and stare off into the distance and let myself get lost in thought. Sometimes it's as though I don't exist. I can turn a 4 hour wait into 10 minutes of what could be called meditation. Just thinking and learning from your own mind.

I read through the very long Wikipedia entry on Genie.
It's one of the saddest and scariest things I've ever read there.

I feel so sorry for the child (the woman). It's so terrible what people can do to other people. And the worst part is that her life is certainly not much better to this day.

I heard that boredom is actually a sign of intelligence because becoming easily bored means you need more to stimulate your brain

I always assumed boredom was a survival thing, telling you to do something.

Because if you're out in the wild and you're sitting around doing nothing, you won't survive.
