Coming into the 2021-2022 season, PSG was thought to be the most fearsome club in the world. But now, this superteam looked more and more like a disappointment. Do they have what it takes to become the world's best club, or are they a failure? Here's why I think they were a failed superteam last season.

So everyone knows I’m not hating on Mbappe or PSG, it’s just what I see and some constructive points. It would be incredibly fun to see them at their full potential next season even as someone who isn’t a supporter. Also don’t mind the title and thumbnail, just had to make it a little controversial you know how it is on YouTube 💀 love yall ❤️

I can’t see PSG winning a champions league anytime soon, something about the way they play lacks the character to win the trophy

They might have the best front three on paper, but it's clear that they have yet to truly mesh. In Barcelona, the team was designed to function for Messi, but in PSG it's for Mbappe. Not to mention, while they have great players, their defenders and midfielders are not on the same level as the other big teams like Liverpool, City, Bayern, Madrid and etc. It's still a team that is run by individuals. It's just a fancier and well oiled version of Ole's United. Besides, super teams that is run by individuals rarely, if ever work

This PSG team has the exact same problems as the Galácticos. A team full of stars and talent, but very poorly managed. Fun fact: Florentino resigned because, in his own words, "I've spoiled the team". But while Madrid is a serious club, I don't think PSG can learn from these mistakes because of the lack of real ambition

PSG is like that team you build when you’re a kid on fifa with all the best players but without the chemistry

Hazard for Real Madrid was the worst signing in football history. Change my mind.
- Cost: 115 million euros
- In 3 seasons: 66 games played, 6 gols and 10 assists.

Messi's heart just isn't in it, at Barca he was basically playing every position, creating defending and attacking but at psg you can just tell he doesn't even wanna be on the pitch. This season could be different from the last but honestly I think it's highly unlikely

Big names that have more influence than their own coach and most management is a recipe for failure not only in competition but also in team togetherness.

Also psg tends to fall apart very easily. It has happened multiple times in the champions league. Example is last year with Real Madrid, the year before that with Man City. Nobody can forget what happened at the Camp Nou.

Totally agreed with what you said. You can clearly see how their playstyle is based on individualities and they lack an overall team consistency. They are not a team, they are 11 really good players running inside the same field.

This might be weird but I actually think that they made lots of pointless signings like Donnaruma and wijnaldum last summer

The front three doesn’t make up for the rest of the team. Messi, Neymar, and mbappe actually performed and played well, but PSG’s back four was absolutely HORRENDOUS last season, which was even more apparent during the Madrid second leg. If the defense steps up, psg will win 🤷🏾‍♂️

My family went to see psg play in France and they described Messi’s body language on the pitch as someone thinking about what’s for dinner tonight and what he’ll do with his family😂

There’s something about PSG that just doesn’t scare other big teams, as a United fan our team has been weak and lacked mental strength since Sir Alex Ferguson left. However even with our weak team that went to play against PSG in the champions league where we pulled off the upset, I just felt like there was always a chance to beat PSG because they don’t seem to play with any sort of passion…The same goes for majority of the champions league exits they’ve had in their current era, it just feels like they don’t have the passion to give their all for the team

I feel like a big reason is how most of the players on PSG are world class star footballers, like Neymar, Mbappe, Messi, sergio ramos, etc. Even though Messi is not much of a selfish player, some of the other big names, will do what they can to flourish their ego, hence putting themselves first before the team

Now that Messi won the WC and Mbappé lost, their chemistry will be even worse…

As a Tottenham fan, it was Pochettino’s system. He never let the front 3 play fluidly enough. The emphasis on maintaining shape and width in the press doesn’t work with 3 overlapping, in-cutting forwards.

No one should be over the club. If a club begs for a player to stay. That team is done for. Simple as that. I know there is someone out there that’ll fill in the shoes with ambition n passion to grow. Creating good players is where it’s at.

Mbappe is overrated and will be until he learns a bit of humility. He only plays for himself
