My mom used to tell me "remember, they're just people." This helped me relax, be myself and be more conversational

You just put so much into perspective. The fact that I get called for the interview means a great deal already and the rest is just giving the interview all I have. I have not been great at interviews in the past but I have a feeling after a couple of your videos this will change. I will try to remember to update once I am successful. Thanks!

Update: Had an interview a few days after and I got the job!

I was offered two jobs on the same day and accepted my dream job. I do not think I would have been offered either of them without the advice from Linda's YouTube videos. Thank you so much. So very helpful!

I found key to interviewing is to level the playing field. Your evaluating the company as much as they are evaluating you - Are they something you want to be apart of. Biggest mistake I see interviewers making is appearing too hungry for job. They can sense that. Make the interview what it is designed to be which is two adults having a meeting of the minds and deciding if its a good fit for both of you.

To summarize the video, Hiring managers are looking for the following (Watch the video for explanations):
1-Your ability to communicate
2-Your energy level
3-They want to know that you are a FIT for the company and the culture.
4-To know that you can do the job.(Demonstrate your value in the interview)
5-They want to know that you genuinely want this job.

Your point about interview flops not being about lack of experience, but rather about not communicating your value really hit home for me. I have been so nervous about my interview tomorrow, but honestly that was a huge confidence boost. Clearly I have the experience, I landed an interview! Now I just need to show that I am more than capable of doing this job and I am excited about the opportunity.

I never thought about the "right fit" for the jobs that I applied. It makes sense now why I wasn't hired for many jobs in the past. Thank you for this eye opener!

to those doing zoom interviews, put post-it notes by or on your laptop. i have an interview in a few days and i'm going to put post-it notes that say things like energy level, posture, and eye contact so that i can check myself during the interview.

Just wanted to add a tip for those fresh out of college with no experience.
Talk about case studies and projects and assignments that you did in college that were related to real world. This will show that you have a good understanding of the concepts and principles in your field and how they can be applied in real business environments.
I used this when i was fresh out of college and i got the job.

Ooh can I comment on the energy one and feeling nervous:

So it may have to do with YOU, but it may also have to do with the person who is interviewing you. I have had interviews where *they* were really stressy and dominant which is not the type of leadership I respond well to, and as a result, I got really nervous, even though I'm normally quite calm in interviews. If this happens to you, don't blame yourself for "screwing up, " and rather consider that it wasn't a good fit for you after all and that you may have dodged a bullet if that person would have been your manager.
