Discover The 4 Emotions You Need To Make a Killer First Impression:

How To Crush Any Interview

These are great tips on how to crush any interview to get the job! One of the moments in your life where you are absolutely going to want your confidence and your charisma to be on point is when you are sitting in an interview chair because when you've arrived there, they've decided that you have what it takes to get this job but you still have to show the person across from you that you're someone that they like, that they could work with, and that you can communicate the skills that make you a good fit which is why in this video I want to show you exactly how to prep for and crush any interview and that includes answering specific questions like, "Tell me about yourself? What's your greatest weakness and tell me about a time when..." so we're going to jump right into it; I got a lot to say. The first piece is on mindsets.

The number one thing that screws people up when they get in interviews besides having not prepped, and you're here so congratulations for that, is that they just get tongue-tied — their confidence is gone — because they're putting so much pressure on the situation. And in order to alleviate this, what I recommend you do and that they do is to zoom out. Imagine yourself at 90 years old. You're looking back at your life. You see the successes, the failures, the happy moments, the sad ones, and I promise you, as you do that and you scan for the most pivotal moments in your life that we're hyper critical, you will not see the interview that you have coming up; there's no chance. It's just not going to crack something that absolutely changes the inevitable course of your life

Pro tip, go to the gym before your interview. Obviously shower afterwards. The confidence boost is magic.

You are literally the first person in 5 years I have heard saying, that the interview is NOT about technical skills, but purely about getting them to like you. As an introvert I feel completely fucked by this. I simply cannot be buddy-buddy with someone I just meet. But beeing aware that this is how it is, may make it easier.

So uh, the manager forgot he had an interview today and he didn’t show up. I was on time though. Do I win?

When telling your stories, a good framework is the STAR technique. It stands for Situation, Task, Action, and Results. You describe the situation, talk a little about the tasks you were responsible for, the actions you took to achieve the desired outcome and the results you got. Don’t worry if the results were somewhat negative. A negative result can be ok, as long as you talk about what you learned from the experience and what you would do next time. Sometimes that can actually be a better answer because it demonstrates self awareness and that you learn from your mistakes. You can also adapt this technique to use for crafting a cover letter or to be able to talk about your experiences when in a networking situation.

The number 1 thing I've done to calm myself down and take control of the situation before an interview is to change my perspective. I am not JUST there for the company to see what I can contribute but also what the company can do for me. Because we want something of equal value this is less of an interview and more or a conversation between two parties.

Used Charlie's Q at the end of my job interview today and the head boss literally overheard and said "WOW. What a great question! Don't you think?! to the 2IC that was interviewing me". Also found out later on (today) that I got the job. Woot thanks Charlie haha.

Could you possible do a mock interview so we could see this in action? Specifically, how to lead into the stories.

I just nailed (mostly) my first interview with an aerospace company. Got the job! It was an hour long phone interview and was pretty stressful. I have watched this video several times now so thank you!

Interviews are an interesting topic, because you have to be both very chilled out yet very confident. To prepare for it you could hit a punching bag for 20 mins and meditate afterwords. I know elliot Hulse has a term called "Tender aggression" which I think makes sense in an interview setting.

Always get value from this channel, keep it up mate.

That last question around the 10 minute mark has gotten me so many jobs. It’s amazing how many employers love that question.

I would add going to another interview first (if possible) ...

... My first one didn't work even though I tried to tell likeable stories. Neither did my second. I thought I would never get the job. But on the third one I managed to be myself, from all the experience I had gained. I finally got the job!
