Nice. Uv is very important, but i think a lot of people are afraid of it, basically because they don't known how to use it (I known this from my example, i had to spend days and days, actually to drag myself to screen and start learning), I think UV deep dive can help a lot of people.

Oh man, hated UV mapping until Maya 2018 came out. Sooo much easier now for complex polymesh (characters, detailed objects, etc).

ok I am at the point where you automatically mapped and then you are moving each piece but when I select the face and hit W it still moves as one big piece and I can't understand what I'm doing wrong help

Hi Mike. I was wondering if you could help me with a query.
I built a lightmap for UE4 in Maya, most of the static model looks great, but some of the faces are black/unlit. I checked them to see if they are either overlapping or back facing and they are not.
However, when I used the 'select by type' and chose 'unmapped', indeed there is countless faces including the immediate obvious ones I saw unlit in Maya.
Is there a specific thing I should do to correct those?

Oh, i made the light map by copying the initial UV map, pressed automatic, then layout to get what I have right now. Thousands of faces.

What resolution should the picture be? The picture appears a little pixelated when applied as texture to the cube
