Very helpful video for those going to Portugal and these phrases are super helpful if not essential! I just came back from Portugal this week and already miss it and miss speaking Portuguese. I really like the people and I find them kind and respectful. It may take a little longer to get to know them but they do open up with time. When you go to the same cafes and restaurants, the people get to know you and become chatty. I wish I were back there! I am a happier person in Portugal. Not that I am a drag here but I just feel so alive in Lisbon.

"Bom" clearly is good ... morning is "dia" / afternoon is "tarde" / night is "noite". "Boa noite" is not a greeting but rather a send off to slumber. This is very helpful for my trip to Portugal next week !!! I like greeting folks with a hearty good morning / good afternoon / good evening.
