By looking at my father showing us what « girl push-ups » were and completely screwing it up, I understood that lot of people don’t actually know how to do a proper knee push-up. It is still engaging in many ways, while being softer on the wrists. I recommend watching Hybrid calisthenics’ push-up videos, they’re short and effective at highlighting what’s great about every push-up variation ! I agree with her on most of the short, but I still think that knee push-up is as good as other variations, depending on your actual weaknesses 🙂

I do pushups from whatever position I get to. If I'm down stretching, I'll do knee, downward dog, regular etc. I'll work them in as a transition. Maybe not ideal, but I get them done and never feel beat up. Same with body weight squats...I'll pop them in when I can.

Could you do a video talking about doing the splits? Stretches to help maybe? Love how you explain physiology and anatomy. You perfectly describe and demo how to do exercises and stretches, and I esp. appreciate the "dont do xx, you'll hurt yourself" bits!

Love this video. I do 50+ incline push-ups a day using the stairs. 5 push-ups each (regular width, close hand and wide arm) per each step as I go upstairs. Glad I came across did video👍🏾

Thank you so much for this. I've follow a lot of pros that give great advice BUT they all always assume that we all can do pushups already (I think because they are men and they generally have more upper body strength naturally). I have always struggled with them. This is very helpful!!!

Really appreciate your demo and explanation. I realized that where I had been placing my hands in relationship to my shoulders was wrong. Great motivation to build up to my first full push-up!

I started exercising 2 years ago and still cant do a push up😭my wrists feels like they’re going to break

Update: I finally learned how to do it! I can only do 5 though haha

I’ve always been athletic but push-ups are so hard for me!! They were one of my least fav punishments in sports because I just struggled so much with them (definitely didn’t have my elbows tucked either).

I injured my shoulder and it bothered me for a while and doing push ups was out of the question for a long time! I don’t like how my knees feel doing them that way, so I do mine off of a coffee table in the basement and it works great! Eventually, I will get back to the floor!

Thank you so much, I wish I could save this short somewhere. I have been recently doing more at home strength training and cannot do a pushup. I refuse to get a gym membership though, at least for right now, and really love that you gave a nice explanation and breakdown.
