✅Ingredients

• 2 limes, juiced
• 4 cloves garlic, crushed
• 1/2 cup orange juice
• 1 cup chopped fresh cilantro
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
• 1/4 cup olive oil
• 1 jalapeno, minced
• 2 tablespoons white vinegar
• 1 (2 pound) flank steak

✅Instructions

1️⃣ 00:00:39 - In a gallon size resealable bag, combine lime juice, crushed garlic, orange juice, cilantro, salt, pepper, olive oil, jalapeno, and vinegar. Squeeze it around to mix it up.

2️⃣ 00:01:29 - Put the entire flank steak into the resealable bag. Seal it up tight. Make sure all the meat is exposed to the marinade, squishing the bag around to coat. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight.

3️⃣ Heat an outdoor grill to high heat.

4️⃣ 00:02:00 - Remove the flank steak from the marinade, and discard excess marinade. Cook on the grill for 7 to 10 minutes per side.

5️⃣ 00:02:17 - Once done, remove from heat and let rest 10 minutes. Slice against the grain, and serve.

<~~this Mexican approves this marinade. Y'all need to stop hating on her recipe. Every region in Mexico has their way of preparing their meat.

Hurray! Finally, somebody who got our beloved carne asada marinate and meat right! You got the fresh minced garlic (everyone else missed it). All fresh and no dry seasoning and no processed food in sight. The citrus and vinegar are tenderizers. I'm from Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico. We have these carne asada taco stands throughout our city. We use dried red chili pods that we boil and add to the marinate instead of jalapeno. It has a different flavor: Jalapeno is slightly bitter, red chili is sweet, both are spicy.  We learn these recipes as kids. As kids we marinate the meat at home the day before, while our parents grill it the next day. I'll give you five stars, even though you missed the rehydrated dried red chili pod for jalapeno. You came the closest to our actual recipe.

Turned out amazing despite forgetting the oil, vinegar, and cooking on a pan after marinating for 6hrs. The meat was extremely soft and easy to eat. Now my kids have a new favorite place (right at home by DAD) for street tacos.

I'm so excited I came across this recipe. I'm from El Salvador but my husband loves his tacos and carne asada. All the ingredients in the marinade, in my opinion, seem to go together very well. I can't wait to try it out for dinner this week. Thank you so much for all your delicious recipes!

Just a tip, acidic marinades should never be over 3-4 hours. Anything behind that, it will actually toughen the meat.

00:18 you didn't need to explain yourself for making Mexican food, but I respect you so much more for that! thank you!

I am from Jalisco and when our family had carne azada the only thing they seasoned with was salt. Sea salt. And of course we used leña instead of charcoal. The key ingredient to a very delicious taco de carne azada is the salsa you put. Want to go all out- go buy a molcajete! 😋

Good job chef, I live in Yucatan tried your recipe today with a roasted salsa and guacamole my family liked it very much, I like to try different variations, techniques and recipes and lately it has been tacos, I was born and raised in Mexico and traveled all over the world, you always have variations to the same recipes even within the same city but I always see that as a plus and diverse. Grandma used to make a similar recipe but without the vinegar and oil, your recipe is deliscious.thanks for sharing that with us.

I use Chef Merinto steak & meat seasoning with 1/2 cup of orange juice.
Sliced brown onions and chopped cilantro. Save the lime juice for your taco.
I like the grill marks on your meat!! Looks very good.👍

This is a good recipe. I subbed habanero for jalapeno, added cumin. I like the end result to be very hot. Thanks for the quick and to-the-point video. If you can get outside-skirt steak you might prefer it to flank steak. I think everyone has to slice it once with the grain to learn the lesson and build jaw muscles. Over 1000 thumbs down? WTF? I do not understand why people "thumbs down" a content creator that spent her time and money to make a video. I understand it is not everyone's recipe but don't go away mad, just go away. Mama said if you have nothing nice to say... Also not Mexican but I live 1/2 the year with my Mexican friends in Mazatlan and eat tacos almost every day (the sushi in Mazatlan is AWFUL). You did well and props for the respect to Mexico. Socal (SFV 1992-2018) then moved to Denver.
