When doing exercises like incline smith, incline dumbbell etc. you want to have little to no arch if you’re pressing at a 30 degree angle. This is because an arch at this angle will make your mid chest parallel to the floor turning the movement more into a flat press which will recruit less of your upper chest fibers. If you find that you naturally arch, use a 45 degree angle on your incline movements to better target your upper chest.

I had this problem when I started lifting, but since I’ve made the correction I’ve seen more upper chest development

When doing exercises like the incline dumbbell bench press, flat dumbbell bench press, incline Smith machine press, and similar movements, do you need to have an arch in your back, or is that primarily for the flat barbell bench press?
