If there's anything awkward to get into the bucket, i just use the blade. If the machine ain't got one then yes use the flip method. It doesn't always work though.

I once worked at a Sears department store. I witnessed a guy pick up a quarter dollar coin off of a perfectly smooth and level concrete floor using an electric forklift on his first attempt. He was able to pinch the edge of the coin against the concrete, which caused the coin to flip up and backward, landing gently on the steel fork. I was astonished…I wouldn’t believe it if I hadn’t seen it.
