This was amazing to watch!

I actually prefer Dexter’s version. He really captured the emotions, while Nathan created a banger, but also a version that is something you would expect.

Dexter’s version illustrates the wonderful surprise of the unexpected. His lack of experience has his mind completely open to sound. He has no expectations at all and therefore has created something quite unique. His lack of experience on this track is his friend.

The track was really remnant of the song: “attention” by Charlie puth

He really has his earbuds plugged into the interface. Legend.

They both are cool tracks. Very different. Nate's is straight-up pop-radio ready. Dexter's sounds like it could be on an Alt-J record. Both EXCELLENT in their own way.

I didn't realize Garage band was so powerful

For me, the lesson of this video is not about who’s better and whether experience will always prevail or not. For me the lesson is, learn to collaborate, make friends, smile through each challenge and make the best of what’s in your head and soul. Keep a light heart, tame your ego, listen to others, appreciate diversity and learn to never stop learning. Thanks to you both, for highlighting where great music making really comes from.

Nice job! Dexter’s version sounds its all about “feel” having the limited experience his musicality is at the steering wheel. While our Pro here really puts out an amazing commercial production that sounds like a radio hit really well done! I think that being able to keep a balance between the 2 things I.e. musicality and craft is where we all would love to be but I also think it’s really hard to do both well.

Dexter had some beautiful ideas regarding texture and timbre; he’s got more or less an artistic concept behind it all, which brings a lot of soul
Nathan, while going for a more steady production philosophy and perhaps a little detached from it, showed however an absurdly well done mix
Cheers to both, hope to one day be a little bit like either of you

Both tracks are really awesome! I also didn't know GarageBand was so powerful in the right hands.

To be honest I liked dexter’s version better. The only thing that’s missing was some bad ass drums. Good job Dexter, keep it coming.

My favorite part is when the beginner calls hi-hat snare

"He's only been producing for a few months!"

OP-1: "cap."

Love watching videos like these. Really shows that it's not about the software, it's about the person who uses it.

Dexter’s is more unique but unpolished. Nathan finished what he started and mixed it spot on. Nathan had time to sleep on it so had an advantage there on top of the experience..I would like to hear a collab and finish this song, or have Nathan help to finish Dexter’s version.

I liked both! One had the potential to sound like Imagine Dragons style and the other a Charlie Puth style ❤️

it's that thing where the beginner one sounds really just great because of how interesting and different it is, but needs just little touch ups here and there. where the pro one is perfect but in the end sounds really like what it's supposed to, so it ends up a little forgettable sadly. I think it's an interesting reminder for everyone.

Dexter: All things considered, mad props to you my man! I love your vocal as well as the direction you took this challenge. You have some awesome vision, and the tools help make it shine.
Nathan: I really love what you did in GB... proving once again, a little bit of knowledge can take you a long way. I've been following you for a year or so. I can't wait to see your new "Live" formats of writing and production. You've opened up my eyes and brought me out of a dark place, where I feel everything I create sucks!
Both of you have motivated me to stop being so critical and work through the process, make some decisions and finish something! Thank you both, best Xmas present I've gotten this year!

I think it would be cool to see what they would come up with working together and combining their visions for the song!

Dexter is really frickin smart and well spoken. I’m very impressed with his perspectives AND his production. With a mind like that he’s gonna go far
