⌚ Best Graduation Watches in Every Price Range

Here we chat about the best watches for graduation. These would not necessarily be the best to wear on graduation day, but more of the best watches to give as gifts to a loved one or yourself. Every watch nut likes a watch gift right? :)

To make things as fair and just, I've broken down this list into watches by budget. The breakdown is :

-Watches $300
-Watches $1500
-Watches $2500
-Watches $4000
-Watches $6000

There is also one special sports watch that is thrown in at the end though it is trading for more than retail. Rolex Submariner.. Oops, spoiler alert!

We kick things off with a friendly Seiko SKX. Everyone likes a good Seiko watch right? These watches are durable, sporty, and an overall great watch to give as a gift. These watches last a lifetime.

Next we run into Baume and Mercier. A simple elegant dress watch goes a long way for men. Why not a good long standing name like this?

In a list of great value watches, we can not forget Nomos. If you are a true watch geek, I am sure you can guess the model I have in mind for this list !

Ah, Tag Heuer. Tag Heuer has been producing chronographs since they became Tag Heuer. No better watch to dress up or dress down than a simple, elegant, Tag Heuer Chronograph !

Yes, for all of you Rolex and Omega collectors- we have those thrown in as well. A Rolex watch here or there can't hurt right?

Cheers!

Thanks for watching !

You (or Fed) should do a quick tour of the office for one of your videos. We’d like to see Delray!

The best watch for a graduation gift should be one that pays off your student debt.

I got an early grad (BS) gift from my mom on our trip to UAE and now the 28mm Tudor Royal is with me all the time❤ I call it my "Tiny Tudor"!

I really recommend getting someone a watch of any price point as long as it's within the budget ofc❤️ It's gonna hold a lot of special memories!

I bought a Speedmaster Moonwatch when my son was born, i wear it til he graduates or get married. In 20+ years he will get a nice scratched watch his dad wears 20+ years. Win win situation

This is a good video and just in time lol. My personal choice would be anything from the longings heritage line! Some really timeless and versatile pieces from that collection. Which, I'm biased, as my graduation watch was my longings saint imier and although it's not popular or very attractive haha, it's still my favorite and most worn watch 5 years later.

Nice suggestions. Halfway trough the writing process of my master thesis in law school, I bought myself a Black Bay Blue. Sort of a graduation/consolation gift.

Hay thanks I enjoy your videos. I was thinking you could do a video about choosing the right strap to compliment the watch. I have a very hard time picking straps. I can’t be the only one. Thanks keep up the good work

I’ll be graduating in the next 2 years and I’m on my plan to save up for a jlc ultra thin, I’m gonna go fight with them to get 25% discount =))

Great pics John. I might instead of the B&M at that price point go with a Hamilton Jazzmaster. They are doing terrific dials in that line.

I ended up getting a "No-Date" Sub 114060 for $6700. This was when things were starting to get crazy but if you shopped around you'd still be able to find a deal. Can't believe the crazy prices they are going for now.

For a 1000$ new you can get the Longines conquest. That's what I bought for my graduation. Great brand, sporty and dressy. I love it!

Well timed video, John. I'm' a really big fan of the Seiko you recommended for a graduation gift, as that's where most people are comfortable purchasing in that price. May I ask if you could recommend a GMT for a female family member who just started as a flight attendant? She needs to wear a watch as a part of the uniform, and I'm looking for under $1000 price point. Thanks!!!

I don't want to bash Rolex John, but giving a Submariner to a grad may steer him in the wrong direction.
For example, if a grad comes into the office the first day with a Submariner, he may not be well received. (which may be a bad start for the grad)
I haven't been in the workplace for very long myself,
but I think the most important trait for a young grad to do well in the workplace is modesty and willingness to learn.
The 6 digits Sub, unfortunately, gives the opposite aura.

It seems to be the case that the younger generation, like myself, prefers to have "bolder" watches. i.e. more wrist presence, chronographs, etc
However, I think there is a certain charm in receiving a conservative (dress) watch from an older (wiser) member of the family.

I bought myself an Explorer 1 for my graduation.
And a Leather Jacket for my first full-time job (which I don't wear in the office).

My best friend receive a smartphone as his grad present, which he lost in his grad trip 😂 😂 😂
