If your heart is telling you to go for it, GO FOR IT! Best decision I ever made!

I went back to grad school and quit my previous career to do so. We had one child and lived on my husband's salary. Money was tight but two years later I started working again at double my salary from before grad school. Best decision/investment of time and money I've ever made. A bonus too was that we got so used to living on a single salary that when I started making money we just socked it all away like it wasn't even there, so now we save at an incredible rate and it is wonderful.

RN here let me tell you your job security will be better than most fields once you get those initials behind your name! Go for it!

WOW, a caller going to school for something that will actually make money. They have emergency fund so she should definitely get that degree. Instead of worrying what would happen if things go wrong, because she has a solid plan, she should imagine what it would be like when things go right.

I’m an RN. My hospital paid for my school while I worked for them as an EMT/ Nurse Tech. It gave me an inside look at Nursing. 👍I worked full time in the ER while I went through nursing school. Many roads lead to RN, find yours. The schooling is more about discipline than anything. Just keep on progressing. 🇺🇸👩🏽‍⚕️

My wife is a nurse. Ive put her through nursing school and CRNA school. Its very very tough, but nursing is a super rewarding career and it can provide unbelievable opportunities.

I quit my job and graduated from nursing school, so you can do it.

I'd say this is a good plan because is nursing, a profession that pretty much guarantees a job right out of the college.

Just jump!! Nursing is a great career. You’ll survive and be ok for two years. I’ve seen people do it with way harder circumstances.

Go for it! I am a nurse and is the best decision I have ever made. I had a long journey to make sure I was debt free. This family has a great plan!

Go for it. I've worked in medical imaging for 31 years, right alongside nurses on a daily basis. There is a national shortage of RNs. We are actually using travel nurses where I work (expensive). You will, 100%, be able to find a job if you are a competent RN. Just realize, that it will likely not be straight Mon-Fri dayshift, unless you get really lucky. Good luck.

In a couple weeks, I’ll be starting classes to become an RN. Sadly I don’t qualify for financial aid, since my parents make too much. I have to use loans, because they won’t help me pay for school or anything. Once I finish in two years and start working as an RN, I’ll pay off the loans, have the hospital help pay for my BSN, and then eventually go to CRNA school or Nurse Practitioner school.

*am I the only one who wonders if the callers read the comment section?*

I'm considering going back to school at 40. It's terrifying to think about.

Hi,

It seems as if you may be afraid of change and the time commitment nursing school entails. I faced this same issue 3 Years ago with my (3 kids ages 2 months, 2 years, and 10 year old) and received acceptance into a BSN program. I went for it, graduated, and love my job not to mention, the amount of time I am able to spend with my family. Job security is HUGE! People hear I am an RN and immediately get job offers lol. It will be a struggle but God will never put you a task higher than you can manage. :) God Bless You!

Do it for yourself. Not other’s. If it fits you. Go for it. If it doesn’t. Think about what you want.

I went to school full time and worked full time. Not sure why people limit themselves. Where there is a will there is a way.
