Some fab books there! I loved Enid Blyton as a child and I still have my late 60’s/early 70’s editions as I can’t bring myself to get rid of them. The Famous Five really started my interest in the thriller genre 🤓

Meddling Kids sounds fantastic! What a cool premise. Paperback is a solid choice when it comes to Priory- I read the hardback and the dang thing was humongous. 😂 It wasn’t my fave, Priory, but I’m the odd one out in that regard, and I’m sure from what you say about fantasy that you’ll love it. Especially if you and Ashleigh have a lot of book preference in common. 🧡

The Priory of the Orange Tree was my favorite book of 2019. Can't wait to hear your thoughts.

My 9 year old son, and I have just read the first of the Famous Five books. I had never heard of them before, they were not well known over in Western Canada. I think it has stood up real well over time. We both enjoyed the story and he wants to continue with the next one. We are also joining in the Magical readathon, with Aru Shah and the End of Time. We recieved this in an Owl Crate box over a year ago, and never got around to it.

Meddling Kids sounds great. So does The Strange Case is the Alchemists Daughter. Sounds like you and your mum could have a lovely book club going there. I’m very much here for The Priory of the Orange Tree... I bought a paperback because the hardback I already had was so heavy. Ha. Also, I have been rubbish at commenting but I’ve been loving all your vids so wanted to say thank you for that too.

Meddling Kids is just so good! I loved every minute of it. It is funny that you got the Blyton books at the same time, since Cantero, the author, said that he was inspired by them also (hence the name of the group being the Blyton Summer Detective Club).
Warriors, Witches, Women sounds amazing. I did my Masters study on pre-film femme fatales, and this book looks super cool

Oh Meddling Kids sound so fun!
I just read A Good Girl's Guide to Murder and ADORED it, I bought Good Girl, Bad Blood on my ereader right as it came out but I feel a little down reading all about murders etc haha So I'm waiting for a few days before I pick it back up again ^^
I loved the Famous Five books growing up too! Have you read the newer ones too? I guess they're like parodies? (like Five on Brexit Island)
Priory of the Orange Tree intrigues me but I don't read much fantasy so I'm reaaally intimidated by that one haha

I didn't know The Priory of the Orange Tree was inspired by St. George (I know his story because he's the patron saint of the Scouting movement); I want to read it even more now! Also, Meddling Kids sounds amazing.

Love that you have some comforting childhood reads. I've hauled a lot of books recently, and considered a leather-bound bind-up of Madeline an extra special treat :)

I am currently reading aloud The Famous Five series to my boys - we are up to volume 5 and are having a jolly good time! We have the 25 volume set so it could take a while. I wonder if your encyclopedia of fairies is the same one I have had for ages. I cannot find it at the moment but it is a very large hardback with a white cover and a dark drawing of a fairy. I love it, and as you say, still enjoy reading through it.

I also got The Priory of the Orange Tree quite recently! I can't deny that the size scares me a bit, but with the representation and the good reviews I feel like it's probably the perfect long fantasy novel for me :)
