To make the world a better place, it helps to have certain virtues: character traits that enable you to take fruitful actions. What virtues should effective altruists cultivate? Stefan argues that we should emphasise virtues like truth-seeking and a desire to increase our positive impact. However, we should also cultivate common sense virtues like integrity and kindness. Effective altruist virtues add to common sense virtues - they don’t replace them.
