Altruism certainly has made my life miserable. I tricked myself into thinking I have zero agency.

"Maybe our moral code is actually just measuring how much we lose..." that was a crazy line. I really enjoy listening to Nikos and Don, they feel so authentic.

Just ask Elsworth Toohey. After his speech to Keating, I felt sorry for him. The poor thing could never get what he wnted. He could not even enjoy sticking it to Roark even if he succeeded at it. I could never get angry at an Ayn Rand "villain", They were so ineffective and yet, that presentation of them was so realistic that it gave me a new understanding of evil

Adam Grant, in his book called Give and Take, shows that when “givers”, people who selflessly help others, adopt an strategic approach to their behavior, they can achieve the greatest success of all types of people, including “takers” and “matchers”. It’s a good read on this subject.
