This women speaks very well. It’s no wonder people hate her. People do not want their world to make sense so of course they would attack her.

She cuts to the heart of the issue in one sentence: the altruist morality behind the criticisms. Invincible.

Living for others should be a matter of choice, not an imposed decision by any government or institution!

She correctly observed an complex paradox in our religion. We do believe in helping others, however, there should be discernment as to who and how to help. For example, we shouldn’t help others to become dependent. Instead of giving fish, teach how to fish. That is where altruism can go wrong.

Religious people love her! The paradox of religion, believing in a benevolent deity which gave you the faculty of reason but then requires that you abandon your faculty of reason in order to believe the absurd tales religion tells.

Don't expect anyone else to be altruistic.

Since a healthy and peaceable society is in everyone's individual best interest, it is incumbent on each of us to sacrifice whatever time and energy is Required, NOT demanded, to maintain a healthy peaceable society - things like respect and basic consideration of others. A healthy society does not need any of us to subvert our own legitimate best interests to those of the state (or our families, or anyone else who may want us to do their bidding, that is, think and act like they want us to think and act to satisfy their illegitimate demands on us). Common courtesy and common sense, and a basic respect for others and compassion for those in need, are all that a healthy society needs from each of us in order to function. Expecting or demanding any more than that is overstepping on the part of the state and will have severe long-term consequences for any free society.

If they notice you and want to destroy you, you are mostly right.

She defines altruism as a moral code which is neither altruism nor a moral code. She’s wacking down strawmen. But she right, 🤔 right on!

I am devoted to the truth and spiritual reality of Christianity, and came to faith through thoughtful examination of the facts.

I really appreciate Ayn Rand's honesty and the vigorous challenge she brings to modern Western culture & religion.

Where is the intersectionality between a vigorous defence of Christianity and the philosophical challenge that Ayn Rand brings?

Is anybody written articles in this space?

I might agree that altruism is not good as a blanket prescription for all circumstances, but there are times when altruism is needed, when it is a necessity, and there are times when what looks like altruism isn't as selfless as it appears.

It’s all semantics, had Mike Wallace decided to define further what altruism means it would have irritated Ayn but also his audience would understand generosity and altruism are vastly difference things. Ayn is very misunderstood by liberal folks

It seems we have moved far closer to Rand’s view of morality. Self-love, do what is best for you, your best life, and it is absolutely worse. It turns out that when everyone only cares about themselves society degrades. Now I’m not saying that acting in the sole financial interest of your clients a bad thing that is a legal obligation that we need to keep. But it be a self serving individual is an awful way to run your personal life. Would you want to start a family with someone like this? Enter into business with them?

"...out to destroy almost every edifice in the contemporary American way of life ...our rule by the majority will."

That is not the contemporary American way of life. We do not have "rule by majority will". If it is our "way of life", then it should be destroyed.

Thomas Jefferson said it best: "...in questions of power then, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the constitution."
--Extract from Thomas Jefferson’s Fair Copy of the Kentucky Resolutions of 1798
