Показать описание
A discussion on Consequentialism, Virtue Ethics & Christianity in Effective Altruism - panelists: James Fodor, Leon di Stefano & Robert Martin with Andrew Bird moderating.

Panelists discuss EA from a secular and christian viewpoint. Both christian panellists favor virtue ethics.
Objections to consequentialism are brought up, for instance the claims that consequentialism is too demanding, consequentialism doesn't satisfy a sense of personal fulfillment etc

From a christian perspective, how to decide how to allocate personal resources to do the most good - how much should be given to the church/spent on handing out bibles compared to spending money on bed nets in Africa to reduce the likelihood of people catching malaria etc.

Many thanks for watching!

FYI everybody: the panel actually ends at 23:30 and is followed by 40 minutes of nothing.
