Thank you for again taking effective altruism to task, along with these leading proponents of it. Effective altruism sounds very Christian. You were not put on this earth to flourish as a human being. You were put here to be tested, and the winner is Mother Theresa.

You may be ignorant of many Effective Altruists' optimism about anti-aging technology in the coming decades. Between this and the fact that many EAs on focus x-risks that are likely to be problems in the next few decades, such as AI and bioengineered pandemics, there are very simple egoistic justifications for working towards many of the same causes as EAs. This doesn't justify the reasoning of those who do it under the banner of compulsory altruism, however.

Creating a godlike AI in the future that will help create utopia, sounds a lot like immanentizing the eschaton.

Likewise, churning out children with the hope they will contribute to the creation of this AI, say by making key discoveries, sounds a lot like Hermetics with their "gathering shards of the absolute idea".
