Is 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 the same depth setting? Confused.

First time using, why Is there only one mark for 1-1/4 1-1/2 (do they share the mark) and the other side 1-1/8 and 1-3/8 marks would be set deeper than the 1-1/4 1-1/2? (collar lower down)

The weird thing is there is no stop line to set 1 1/2" in the box. I assumed it was the bottom max and in some case the screw went through. So I set it back but it would be so much nicer if there was a stop line as there is for the others.

I am joining wood only 30mm wide. The 9mm drill bit seems to take out an awful lot of wood - and then when I screw in the 1 1/4 screw, it just cracks through the surface of the wood. Is there any solution?

Haven't used this bad boy in a while. Went to adjust the stop collar and it is stuck (yes, I removed the setting screw). Can I put some oil on it, or will that cause it to slip at all while drilling (I've read about slipping problems elsewhere). But in any case I have to find a way to slide this sucker down because it's not at the correct setting. Any assistance would be appreciated, thanks!
