when my main coone died, he did not hide, he stayed close to my family cos he wanted to be next to us when dying too. i am crying now thinking of him. i grieve for him everyday. he was the joy of my life. came here to find some solace.

I am a truck driver, my Maine coon is just over a year old. He has been on the truck with me since he was about 12 weeks old. While driving he enjoys sitting in the passenger seat, laying on the dashboard as long as it's not too hot. If he feels the need to play he will bring me a toy so I can toss it to the back of the sleeper and he will bring it back. He enjoys being in the truck. When we go home there are two more Maine Coons there for him to interact with, but when it's time for me to go back to work he will get in the carrier without any fuss and seams real happy to get back to HIS space/home.

We have two Maine Coons, Floki (3 years) and Jax (1.5 years) and are considering another. Maine Coons are definitely for people who really love their cats and want to interact with them a lot. They are smart and playful and definitely benefit from play with their humans as well as with each other. We have a large house so they have lots of room to run (at top speed) and climb and wrestle around. I also take them outdoors on leash and we have a big catio deck that they can access from the living room windows, and an enclosed front porch that they can be out on too. I try to give them a lot of consistency so that they feel safe& secure and know what to expect but I also like to introduce new things to them sometimes so that their days aren't all the same. For example, we have certain toys that I keep in the closet and bring out on occasion and that way it's like a new toy and they are excited to play with them rather than just being bored with toys that they see all the time. We also speak to our Coons a lot and they understand a big group of words that we intentionally repeated often so that they'd learn them. For example, "hungry". We don't use the word unless we plan to feed them and when we do say it, their eyes and ears show you that they know exactly what you're saying. They know quite a few words. They come when called and they talk a lot which we love. Well, as most Maine Coon people would probably agree with, I could write endlessly about our two boys. We really love this breed and I have a saying that "cats are the best dogs" and for sure, Maine Coons are the very best dogs!! If you love to look at cat pictures like I do, you can check out our two Coons on IG @FlokiMyMoki. Oh and Floki the Cat here on YT.

My male MC is 12 months old and weighs 17.2#’s. I’m retired so spend lots of time with him. He’s a great traveler too. He’s beautiful and very loving!

We were fortunate to get a male MC from the SPCA near us. He was upset as he had been returned twice and was hiding in he box in his cage. I sat in front of his cage with my hand inside and waited. Eventually he came out and sniffed my hand. The girls at the SPCA thought he was not adoptable because he was so timid. Now after several years he is a normal MC cat and weighs in at 16lbs. We live in an old house and he hunts constantly all over it. He is by far the sweetest cat we have ever had. Smart, patient, and affectionate. Oddly we can let him out in the yard by himself and he will stay there for hours at a time hunting all over the place. He NEVER goes outside of the fence although he could easily get out. He has a language all his own and either leads us to what he wants or gives us the sweetest trills and meows. If he wants something he will come and sit by one of us and wait for us to get up and follow him. He is big and black and so handsome. Strangely he will not poop outside but come in to the house to use one of 3 kitty litters( biggest we could find). Sadly locally they sell for about $2500CDN and we would not be able to afford one so a $200 SPCA cat was a deal we could not pass up. We are hopelessly in love with him. And he is a total mommas boy, and follows her around the house. We have a glassed in back porch we call the catio and he has a bed with a heating pad there and he watches the bird feeder at the corner of the porch. He will come and get momma to sit with him out there when he gets lonesome.

Mr. Beasley B Coon is just 8 months old. He is magnificent! He loves to play, jump, and retrieve his toys. Often he picks up his favorite toy and brings it to me so I will play with him. He has a ravionous appetite, and loves his food. My biggest joy is where ever I am he is close by, sometimes it can be annoying!. I cannot paint, or sew, knit for that matter as he is into it and trying to figure out how to do it. Seriously I love Mr. Beasley. He has made my lonely life an absolute joy.

I have 2 Maine Coon cats now. I have 2 that went to kitty heaven. I really love them. They're smart and very loving. All cats are beautiful to me, but these gentle Giants are the best! ❤️

We have a 12-year-old Maine Coon that has been outdoors its whole life, this cat hates being confined to the indoors... Our cat patrols our borders daily, no rodents on this property... Great cat, very rugged cat!!

I have a 2 year old shelter baby that kept growing and growing. Had his DNA tested and he’s mostly MC. He’s huge and I’m honestly scared to weigh him. My best guess is that he is about 20-22lbs based on carrying him around (he’s a big baby and that has been his preferred form of transportation since I got him at 6mo old) when compared to my 20lb kettle bell.

He is so affectionate and always by my side. I pick on him because he still has no idea how big he is so he’s kinda dumb when it comes to stopping on the wood floors (think the race car drift thing when it goes wrong and they knock into the wall - I’m not a car person but I think that makes sense.) However, he knows more commands than any dog I’ve ever owned.

Luckily I’m nearly always home to spend time with him. We have our morning and evening playtime routine that is mostly playing fetch and what I call volleyball. His older, much smaller sister (5yo DSH) is maybe 6ish pounds and she keeps him on his toes. They play for more of the day than I ever knew cats could be awake. It’s also sort of cute that she is the obvious boss of the house. I assume that is bc my MC boy is possibly the most polite cat that has ever lived.

I fully agree that they wouldn’t be great in a small space or in a home with many people and they’re probably not the best cat for a home with kids. My boy is curious about people when they come to the house as long as it’s on his terms but he’s completely unwilling to be around my 8yo nephew.

This was long but hopefully someone finds it helpful-ish maybe

I've had my main cone for about 6 weeks now his about 4/5months old. His full of life & loves to be played with, if he doesn't get a good dose of attention he will go silly late of a night & won't let you get any sleep. His like a naughty little boy at times but I have noticed they are way more brighter then any other cats I've had. He fits in well with the whole family but he very much gravitates towards me as I am the one the provides his basic needs.

We have a ten month old male Maine Coon (Rocky) and a ten month old female Sphynx (Cookie). They are both very active and love playing with each other. They are both very chatty as well. We couldn’t be happier!

My MaineCoon kitten is now 9 months old. I lost my heart to Penny the day I held her in my arms. I’ve been surprised at her gentleness, as I’ve only had rambunctious kittens, especially my (not my choice) Ragdoll x Bengal, Taffy, who is nearly 8 years old now, & much calmer than when he was young. Penny is very affectionate, & loves to suck my thumb when she cuddles, but, like Peter Pan, she doesn’t stay with me for long. Once she has had her cuddle, she’s off to find a nice secluded place to groom herself, & then sleep for at least a couple of hours. I have a small apartment, but both cats get plenty of love & attention, & seem quite happy in our mutual home. I’m (usually) a very quiet person, who likes silence or quiet music, & non violent movies.

I had the most Wonderful and Amazing kitten to adolescent boy in the world. I got him as a rescue. We did our vet visits on regular basis, but but as he started getting what I thought was overweight I git concerned. I made another vet visit was told he was properly part Coon but was healthy and happy. We want home and he just kept going and getting sweeter every day. I lost him far to soon. I keep my eyes open to all the rescues in and around my area, but so far no luck. I hope one day to be blessed like that agin. Buff was his name.

Our Maine Coon thinks that he's one of our Golden Retrievers. He walks off leash and loves to ride in the car, laying on the dogs' beds. We have a very large house and very large gardens and forest around it. He's such a happy, lovey boy and we're lucky to be his humans.

We were given a beautiful smokey-grey kitten who is only part Maine Coon but is quite unlike other cats we’ve had. She is SO affectionate and brings real joy to our home with her antics. She gets regular play sessions and most days a little time in a harness, which she really doesn’t mind, as I’d like to take her walks in safe places for her exercise and entertainment. Also, yes, we have noticed she does have some quite doggy traits, like trotting around carrying toys in her mouth to put where she wants them.

MR. BEASLEY is 9 months old. He is quite large, just under 20 lbs. He has a ravionous appetite and is incredibly active. My life has changed and I can no longer, do needle work, or paint. He is into everything. I do love his constant need for companionship. He is always nearby, greets e at the door when I return.
I love how he brings his toys into my bed at night, it has become a regular play time. He does bring toys to me when he feels the need to play during the day.
I am so in love with my Mr. Beasley. So glad I found a great breeder and he has a great home.
