My Yorkie Gracie is 4 yrs old and is the sweetest girl. She's brought so much love into our home. Can't imagine our life without her. Yorkies are the best.

I've had three yorkies, my last one was 19. The two prior were 16. I agree with everything except the jumping. Unless you have an unhealthy dog that was bred to be a "tea cup" (which is not a breed) they can jump just fine. My vet specifically stated one of the reasons my dogs were strong and muscular was from running and jumping and it kept them healthy a lot longer. Good luck stopping a Yorkie from jumping 🤣

My beloved Tomas died tuesday and I am heartbroken. He was my saviour as I was his. I got him from the shelter deeply traumatized and in time and with TLC he became that playful little amazing dog that yorkies are. I miss him madly. He came to me with serious heart issues and it was just a matter of time. Too little time if you ask me.❤ Please love your dog a bit more today ❤ There might not be a tomorrow 💔

I’ll tell you what my William is stubborn, bossy, and believes he’s in charge. Everything Yorkies are. I’ve had a lot of Yorkies to know this. They are the boss, not you. But anyway, I was very disappointed that you didn’t bring up that Yorkies should never ever wear a collar. They should always wear a harness. And the harness must not press against their trachea. So you have to choose a special harness that rides low to the chest area. I know this because I made this mistake years ago. I didn’t know any better and I put collars on my Yorkies. One of my Yorkies always liked to pull on the lead. He ended up getting severe collapsed trachea. One night he nearly died from it. It was really scary. He nearly suffocated to death. I didn’t think I would make it to the hospital in time. He had to remain in hospital for several nights inside an oxygen enclosed cage. This happened several times. Not that he almost died, but that he had such labored breathing that he needed to stay in the hospital, several times. So please don’t make the mistake I did. You should also make sure your Yorkie is always groomed. I think that keeps them healthy as well. Makes them comfortable, feel better. Remember, they have hair, like we do. That hair needs to be trimmed. And never neglect their eyes. Yorkies get eye goop that needs to be removed every day. Otherwise it will build up and it could clog their tear ducks. My current Yorkie is 13 years old and in very good health, I must say. I’m very lucky. But then I take care of him like he’s family, because he is. Remember to always treat your Yorkie as if they are one of the family. Like I said, they are. I love Yorkies. Always have. Always will. P.S. I don’t mean to scare anyone, but if you’re Yorkie makes honking sounds when they get excited, Say, like when you come home, they have collapsed trachea. But don’t worry, be sure to take that collar off and put a good harness on that doesn’t press against their throats. If you catch it early enough, then it won’t exacerbate, and become a life threatening problem later on. One more thing. My William is a rescue. There are plenty of Yorkies that need to be rescued from shelters. Or there are Yorkie organizations that have Yorkies that need homes. Don’t line the pockets of breeders. Every time you buy a dog from a breeder, a shelter animal dies. Please adopt, don’t shop.

My tea-cup Emmie just passed on Saturday. She was 15 1/2 years old. We were so lucky to have her. I’m so sad and heartbroken. But blessed to have had her for so long.

My Yorkie Luna just turned 14 on February 21. Her sister from the same litter passed away one year ago at the age of 13. We were so heartbroken and still miss her so much. Yorkshires are the best. They are smart, cute, energetic and the best thing is that they don’t shed.

I love my 2.8 pounder, Yoshi. I get to wake up with him every day. He brings a smile to my face every morning. He knows when my alarm is supposed to go off for work. If I forget to set it, he runs around the bed and barks to wake me up. He’s saved me so many times. Don’t know what I’m ever going to do without him. He’s my world.

My Duchess is going to be 10 years old December 7th. My husband and I are in our upper 70s and we just love her so much. We call her our baby. My adult children and grandchildren give her so much attention. She brings so much happiness to our life. ❤️❤❤

Completely agree on all points. The only problem is keeping them from jumping down off things……good luck! Our little girl is a year and a half and the love of our lives. I do brush her teeth and she tolerates it quite well. There is nothing she doesn’t understand! She is our 2nd Yorkie and I’ve never seen such a intelligent, responsive, delightful breed! 👍👍💖

100% Agree about food quality, and that goes for ANY pet. My opinion is that if you can't afford to give a pet the best, then you can't afford the pet.

I have 3 yorkies in my family. My personal is skilled tracker, but no kill drive. So I encourage her tracking behavior to help me find rodents. Father's yorkie is couch potatoe who thinks she is a cat. She was a breeder before we got her, she help raise kittens and puppies. Grandmother's yorkie is a true terrier. She has high kill drive (for rodents) and truly brave for her small size.

My little Yorkie is a pretty boy. His name is Louie, aka Monster, aka Houdini, aka Piranha. He is vicious in his enjoyment of playing games. He loves to fetch but he loves the tug of war with me when he brings back what was tossed. He is 8 months old and weighs in at a whopping 4.9 pounds. He is my shadow, following me wherever I go in the house. There is no exception. If I go outside without him, he waits by the door until I return. He loves chasing lizards, birds, bunnies, and other invaders to his territory. There is nothing more adorable than to see his little tongue hanging out waiting for the next toss for him to fetch. When he runs after a lizard, he is so excited that he first hops like a bunny before earnestly running after the invader. Yorkies are so intelligent. Much more than my 12-year-old chihuahua. But they are our kids. And the best kids we ever had. They don't cause trouble, ask for more money, and are loyal to a fault.
