I think the best thing to do fairly early is to take the carriage to Riften, give Wujeeta a healing potion, , she is usually found in the fishery, , , and when you help her, you can loot all the barrels and sacks on the Riften docks and I got over 50 salt piles just from that area! Plus loads of salmon meat, which is a great food to carry and doesn’t weigh much. ☺️😉🐟

I love that this mode makes trivial things like Inns, food merchants and cold place much more important in the game. Climbing to the top of High Hrothgar was really interesting because I died a couple of times from cold, until I actually managed my hot soups right.
I love this mode and am excited to play more.

Also, get Lakeview Manor and get a carriage there. That carriage will go to more places than the standard carriages. You can travel to Roriksted to get back to the farm easily. And your horse moves with you when you use a carriage.

Survival mode + Adapt (or higher) difficulty is the best Skyrim experience, never really enjoyed being an unkillable godlike being in any open world RPG

What i love actually is the fact that sleeping effects majicka which is really cool because as a werewolf you can't get a rest bonus but also in werewolf form you don't really use magic at all so it makes sense lore wise

You know, as I was searching for this video, I was wondering to myself if there are any channels that give simple short explanations on topics. Was dreading having to sit through a 20 minute video of lore and mechanics and junk just to get a brief understanding. Then this video was the first recommendation. I appreciate this.

Another useful tip I have not seen mentioned a lot is that you can still fast travel by using the "bend will" shout this does require the dragonborn DLC though. I find that a bit of dragon travel paired with the horse makes the whole experience a lot better.

I was totally ignoring the Golden farm thing quest, thank you so much for this video ahahah. Also, i played this game for 10 years, never thought I would have needed salt piles so much ahahahahh

I’m doing this mode now, and I recommend playing as a thief. I maxed out my stealth to 100 before leaving the tutorial cave with the bear. And went on a bit of a “Homeless bum” journey for now. Stealing my food and whatever else I could get my hands on to survive. Until I have enough gold saved up for a small house to make.

For now I like doing that method, as it kinda feels fun to scrounge up food and hunt down animals for ingredients to cook with. I like it 😁

Just started my first Survival play through. This helped a bunch! Thanks a million!

If you want a real challenge, play Argonian in Survival Mode. They are freezing to death much quicker due to them being amphibious.
I died 2 times trying to get from Riverwood to Bleakfalls Barrow and numreous times while trying to get to High Hrothgar...
(It isn't helping either that the Game starts out in the late Autmn / early Winter^^)
1 Tip I do might add is the Goat you can buy in Rorikstead with the Carrybags attached gives you another ~140 Carryweight to work with and it won't take up your normal "Pet-Follower-Slot".
Gary already mentioned it, but the Carriages on your HF Homes are crucial for somewhat moving faster^^ Lakeview Manor near Falkreath is the closest Home of the 3 to any of the Holds you can travel to making it the best choice. (Although I would recommend buildung at least all 3 HF-Homes to the degree where you can hire the Carriage, so you have more option during your travels to stop by)

"If you get frustrated, you can toggle Survival Mode off, but then what would the point be?" has GOT to be THE most accurate comment EVER!!"

Thank you for this video, just started to play my legendary and survival mode for the first time, i had some issues with hunger going low fast, but the camping stuff was wondering how it works but now it's all clear, thank you also for an extra tip i forget where but there is a sign stone that increase carry weight and armor is weightless could help too.

Good guide. I agree, this is the only way to play. I often self impose challenges like not actually permitting myself to cook my own food so I rely in vendors and scavenging.

Gods this was helpful...I had no idea about the stuff waiting for me in creation club and I was trying to find a backpack for hours...little did I know it's part of the stuff I didn't download >.> Thank you very much!

I don't understand why in survival mode you can't just buy a coat.
