Every one of us has to live within our means. Life can be uncertain, and there are no guarantees. Being a landlord is a business, not a charity. If a tenant can't afford to live somewhere, they have to look for somewhere else. If a city needs low cost housing, they must allow easier building and evictions, so the risk of ownership is worth the efforts and expense. Rent control along with other regulations and costs are making this business less viable, and will ultimately LOWER the number of available units, and RAISE the cost to tenants.

Yep kick out the bums who took advantage of suspended rent payment laws. What did they do with their rent money and relief checks instead? Buy new TV's and drugs instead of paying down debt or saving up. KICK THEM OUT

I would like to know how can I receive past rent unpaid from
March 2021 thru March 2022
my tenant would not join the Housing Is Key program so I wasn't able to receive any help from this program this tenant started paying again April 2022 she has paid so far thru Dec 2022 so I expect her to pay January 2023 how do I go forward with a plan to get my lost rent I'm honestly afraid with the night mare stories of tenants claiming to be harassed and file law suits when you are just asking what's due to you thanking you in advance for this information

It’s enough to be freeloaders. They took advantage of moratoriums. They work and take vacations twice a year, buy a new cars but have no money to pay rent. We did that 7 day s to notify us and they didn’t show anything. We serve them after 7 days but the lawyers told us that it will cost $15.000 for each tenant and it’s not even guaranteed that we will able to evict. How in hell are we going to pay that much money when we didn’t collect rent for 3 years. We always screwed. Tax payers always suffer specially middle class. Screw democrats.

Rent control it's not the solution that's what we get for voting for people that really don't do the right job rent control hurt tenants and landlords .

How is this still going on and how can it be legal to continue a moratorium for 2 years that's insanity.

End of moratorium is long overdue. Rent control = less rentals.

They can make it tenant friendly all they want, but I wouldn't want to buy any rental property in California, ever.

Some of this video is already out of date. For one thing, the LA County eviction moratorium, scheduled to end December 31, 2022 has been extended to January 31, 2923. The LA County Board of Supervisors has put a committee together, to report back with considerations of extending the moratorium to June, 2023.

It should have been lifted a long time ago. Landlords are having to pay catch up due to over 2 years of NON PAYMENT BY SQUATTERS.

Last year my landlord refused to give us low income tenants in a county program our leases. Under the L.A. County program that governs us the landlord couldn't raise the rent do he wouldn't issue leases. This year, after a huge fight last year when tenants demanded leases, got them, but we refused to sign, all of us, because they were charging us for things the landlord wasn't allowed to charge low income tenant for. The landlord finally corrected our leases and we signed after a whole year of hassle.

This year the same landlord in the same County program is trying to keep our low income tenant utility allowances on top of raising our rents 10%. The county isn't making the landlord comply with the covenant governing us and our utility allowances are being kept by the landlord. We are going to sue the County and the landlord for fraudulently keeping our utility allowances.

We have letters of protest and inquiry out to LACDA and the Supervisor for our area. If we don't get reasonable explanations we will sue. Two years of aggravation! It looks like the County and developers are in cahoots!

I think all landlords that could not pay their morgue from non payment of rent should be able to keep their property everything should of been excused from paying not just tenants

if your tenant don't self certify within the first seven day and you start the eviction process and the tenant pay's the rent can you as a landlord refuse that rent and still evict thanking you in advance

Landlords that did not get rent from tenants should be able to garnish wages, taxes, and get free eviction.
