LA Landlords Could Get Rent Assistance From County But They Would Be Banned From Evicting

Los Angeles county is starting a new program that would pay landlords who suffered during the pandemic from tenants who did not pay rent.

The county had a 3+ year eviction moratorium and many tenants chose not to pay. Now the county is trying to pay landlords some of the money that they are owed.

The problem is that there are strings attached to the money. Landlords would be unable to evict tenants if they except the money.

Taking Government deals is like dealing with the Devil

I have a better idea. Pay ALL the landlords what they were owed but didn't receive because of a moratorium that none of us asked for. And then go after the tenants that "couldn't" pay and make them prove their reasons why they couldn't pay!!!

I would never voluntarily participate in any government program.
There will always be strings attached

Nope. Would not ever sign anything that says I can't evict the tenant. The have zero incentive to pay rent or upkeep the property.

Please show me one landlord that has collected a single dime off of this BS....

And what is the incentive of taking money if it means not being able to evict a tenant that already showed that they are willing to take advantage of a situation where they can’t be evicted, know that they can’t be evicted when they fail to pay rent in the future.

The state owes money to these landlords and landlords should not have to have any conditions attached to it! That is their money! California was such a rotten state!

What did the tenants do with all the money owed, stuff their mattress ! More tax payer money wasted.

Sounds like a deal with the Devil. But then again, that's sort of par for the course investing in California. No thanks.

I think the County should have to pay all the landlord that are still owed back rent and the tenant should still have to move that did not pay rent. They did tell these tenant that the rent was not excused. I think the County should force the tenant to pay the back taxes by garnish their wages and garnish their income taxes.

I collected tons of money from different agencies during the pandemic with NO EVICTION policy but if they fell behind again I was allowed to evict and I did
