Do you have any studies to support this? I tend to find internally rotating at the top and bringing them all the way together is the best squeeze and mind muscle connection I can get.

i do it just to count it as a proper rep, all the way down to the chest and then back up and touching as if you struggle on the last rep you don’t have an indictation on when you’ve done a complete rep other than your own opinion, which for most people on the last rep is “well that was good enough”
