The VERY BEST Songs Of 1979 // RE-UPLOAD

Re-Upload due to a block in the last video. Sorry 'bout that.

In this video you'll find my favorite songs of 1979. Life as a schoolboy continued for yours truly while in music Disco was everywhere, elements of it were even found in songs from rock and punk groups. This closes the last hole between the 70s and the 80s so now you can find Best Of Videos from 1970 to 2023 on my channel. Hope you enjoy!

Disclaimer: Some songs might be released in 1978 at the end of the year so I took the creative freedom to put them there as it would be more in line with how charts were at that time. Remember: Even if a song was released then it might have taken some time to chart and especially if it was a song from overseas. Songs that I already used in my Best Of 1980 however weren't eligible.

What are your favorites of 1979? What do you remember? Do you think it was a good year for popular music? Missed any songs? You can write in the comments and discuss this ranking but please keep it civil. Thank you!

No Copyright infringement intended. You can buy all these songs in full length in your favorite store. No money are made of this videos, just a hobby to celebrate music.

It is so nice to see a compilation of old hits seen from an European perspective. Others I have seen are from America and includes a lot of stuff that never made it over the Atlantic and therefore unknown to me. Good work, really.

Donna, Bee Gees, Blondie,Police,Abba wow!!Btw Abba had 5-6 top songs in 1979.''UK-wise.'Does your mother Know"(UK no4)/Voulez Vous-Angeleyes(No have a dream"(no2)Also Chiquitita(Spanish Version) was a no1 monstrous hit in many Latin American Countries and "As good as New" a no1 single there too as a domestic release.

It’s like having a German friend who grew up at the same time as you did in Southern California. I wish we had met and shared records back then!

I was 15-16 years old in 79 and a lot of these songs and artists, I never heard of. There's a lot of deep cuts form famous performers are on this list too. (Clearly this is an opinionated list and not based on sales.) IMO - it's a better list.
And I want to know WHERE IN THE HELL is "What a Fool Believes" by the Doobie Brothers!?!?!?!!
