Scale 'Positions' Explained - Lead Guitar Lesson

Показать описание
On guitar, we can play any scale in 5 different positions on the neck. This is the same scale, same note names, just in different locations on the neck.

But what does this really mean? How can we learn this easier and in a practical way, rather than just in theory?

Watch this video to find out!

More on this in my upcoming Lead Guitar course - coming late November 2017!!

This turned out to be the first video I've watched that introduced me to the concept of scale positions. I had no I idea I was only practicing my scales in position 1 all this time.

Really helped. I’m struggling with the whole scale, position thing, and more videos like this would be welcomed. Cheers👌

After disappointment with a paid "Guitar GPS Fretboard" Instagram course, I searched and found this video. Thank you Andy. You're awesome.

Great lesson Andy! Not that I can or will ever be able to do that, but at least I now know about it. BTW, why is the Guitar tuned to "EADGBE"???? I always wonder about Steve

Idk how to really ask this question so I hope it makes sense. What is happening when we take the 3rd position of a G major scale and play it where the 5th position once was?

I thought you can play the same pattern on any fret.

That's confusing, G chord, 3rd fret, yet 1st position ???

You call this the 1st position, but some ppl call the open string position 'position 1'

So this is the guitar equivalent of someone playing a scale up and down the piano in different octaves?
