How to play a C major pentatonic scale. Also the 2nd pattern of an A minor pentatonic scale.

Unfortunately what most books leave out is that there are only two triads in the C Major or a minor pentatonic scale. C E G = C Major triad . A C E = a minor triad. But the other notes of the scale have triads derived from C Major or a minor. C Major, d minor, e minor, G Major, and a minor. You should be practicing the chord with the scale position. C Major chord and position 1 of the C pentatonic scale. d minor and pos. 2 of the C pentatonic. e minor and pos. 3 . G Major pos. 4. a minor pos. 5.

Place the 5 Minor Pentatonic/Blues scale boxes right on top of the 5 Major Pentatonic boxes and get this: 1-2-b3/3-4-b5-5-6-b7. Only 3 notes are left b2-b6-7 which can be used chromatically.

a chord always gives me a color for example, ill say an F is a grey color, or an Am is a dark blue color so i just think of it as, okay the seventh fret has a blue themed string, so i find another similar color of blue to another string, weird way but it helps me

2nd shape of minor Pentatonic is first shape of major Pentatonic...3rd of minor is 2nd of major...and so on.

I want to ask if major and minor skills for playing melodies are really different

I'm curious what do people (here) call this? I've heard people refer to this as position 1 of the major pentatonic scale. Or the form 2 pentatonic. Or the E shape pentatonic of the CAGED system. Personally I call it the form 2. I find it easier to always think of the shape as form 2 and to know the relative minor associated with the shape as well. Rather than say this is position 1 of the major pentatonic but position 1 of the minor pentatonic is a different shape altogether. Anyone follow what I'm saying?
