From 0 to 10, how happy are you with a zero alcantara product?

I love my Mclaren V2, it just a solid wheel for GT racing, would be nice to have a few more buttons and one more rotary but other then that is perfect. The clutch paddles I use for looking left and right.

I had this wheel, an F1 carbon and a CSL round wheel with Alcantara (the Portuguese TM).

I got rid of the F1 carbon for this as I actually like the bigger diameter, and the extra lightness means it provides more FFB detail. It also has more buttons. An excellent wheel imho.

I just ordered the McLaren v2 a couples days ago to replace my Formula v2. It’s just too small and I hated the Alcantara. Felt great the one time I felt it without gloves…..rest of the time I was afraid to touch it.

I also ordered the Sim Maker Z magnetic shifter upgrade kit to replace the push/pull one that everyone seems to dislike on the McLaren wheel. I changed out the one on my old Thrustmaster Ferrari wheel and it felt great.

Im thinking of moving from an Accuforce to a CSL DD(mainly because is easier to connect everything to the wheel) and this would be one of my go to's.

This is indeed a great budget wheel. My only slight issue is that many budget buyers probably only have a single rim in their collection and I'd argue a GT or formula style rim is not the best choice if you are only having one rim. I'd always go for a round rim in that situation.

Outside of this though. Yes. This is the best budget rim!

Really regret coming into sim racing so late in my life, but I think I came at an amazing time, sold my g29 and preordered my csl dd after buying the mclaren gt3 wheel v2 when it released. Pretty lucky cause the purchase allowed me to preorder the csl dd in the first wave

One question, there is any possibility to change the force feedback of the wheel or base if i am playing in a ps5? Hi from Tenerife and thank you!

I have this and the Formula Carbon V2. The Mclaren is just about perfect. Would be nice if Fanatec would release a Clubsport range GT rim. The button cap covers are cheap and break after a month or two. I replaced them with stickers off eBay

Problems with sticky shifters when the wheel less than 2 weeks old, (ordered carbon ones to replace) and with a dd pro problems with the QR1 lite, SLIPPING! at high torque, replaced with a metal QR and that's gone away.. but.. In my opinion there QR1 lite is not up to the job of a 300mm wheel on anything more than 5nm. running 8 it was clocking on fast turn transitions in formula cars or gt3/gt1.. (in any title) still despite all this its great in the hand, and gives good detail due to the light weight compared to say the M3 GT2 wheel.

Couldn't agree more - If Fanatec did the equivalent for any other GT3 models I would be all over it. Massive missed opportunities.

I prefer this wheel over the Porsche Cup endurance wheel, i have both. Downsides 1. is it gets bit slippy when sweating 2. button placement is not great, needs more buttons within thumb reach.

I just got this, already had a F1 esports rim (v1), I'd say the Mclaren is a better all around wheel but doesn't feel as premium. Also the magnetic shifters, as always, seem to be too heavy and far away from the rim causing finger fatigue. The F1 rim, while slightly more cramped does feel more comfortable to rest your fingers on the shifters.

IMO if you don't need the extra functions that the Mclaren rim gives you and plan on getting a round rim, I'd get the F1 esports wheel.

I sold the Mclaren GT3 and bought the Clubsport formula v2.5, mainly because i play F1 titles and when you consider the better quick release, the price is similar.

i didn't like the shifters on the GT3 and had to use 3rd party software to allow certain buttons to work as this wheel isn't supported by everything.

I'm an oddball here. I have this wheel rim and the WRC P1 wheel. The WRC wheel is my main wheel mostly because of it's rev-stripe and it being a round wheel. I do use the McLaren for GT and Formula cars. It really fits the bill better when running in those classes. I just run road cars, track toys and Rally more than I race GT. But ACC has been growing on me, and when I'm on that sim, the McLaren is the go to rim.

I would like to have a digital dash for my CSL-DD... Let me try to get my old windows phone working with a dash software. If that works, then the need for a revstripe on the McLaren rim would be moot.

I also wish Fanatec would make another CSL rim of this caliber. What that wheel is, I'm not sure. The P1 could use some rotory switches IMO. Who knows?

What screen do you use on your sim rig?

okay, but we already know that xd.
I'd love some actual review on CSL Bmw wheel, the cheapest option

How does it compare to this gt3 wheel? Ffb, material quality, buttons, paddle shifters, etc?

So if price is not a issue which wheel should I buy? GT3 V2 with QR1 or Esports F1 V2 with Rev Stripe LEDs. I am gonna be playing F1 2023 & GT7

I play exclusively in VR. I use the N button as reset HMD view. If I put it in another button ans click it by mistake, it might be the end of the race for me

I bought the WRC wheel, but I wanted to buy this one. Dealbreaker was that the shifters are too loud. This depends on where you use your rig of course, but if it is anywhere where others can hear you, the loud click it produces can be a problem. Your colleague 'Ron' measured it at 75 dBA, 30 cm distance. :-)
