Career switch at 31 from engineering to sales… SDR for 2 years at 2 different tech data security companies. Late stage start up first, public second. Wish I did it the other way around because I JUST figured out the sales motion that works for me in this role… But I’m grateful for my path so far. Keep up this content, it’s a refreshing and honest perspective .

I’ve been grinding my ass off since March2023.

Made the change from construction, into a boiler room cold calling for 30k base 42 ote.

Fast forward to now and I just signed my first offer just shy of 100k. But holy fuck was it a grind to get here, and it’ll be a grind to get that 100k+

Hey brother amazing content. I binge your videos. I'm finishing my sales training course and I wanted to know, do you provide any type of personal coaching? I would pay you just to talk to you for a half hour because I think the value that you put out there on YouTube for free is phenomenal. Thanks for all you do

Hey Matt, thanks for the video. I've been following along for some time now and I'm pleased to see you continuing to dish out quality content.

I've finally taken the leap from another industry and start at Oracle in the next few weeks. Let me know if there's any final words of wisdom you have!

I am trying my best to get into tech sales. Just seems like jumping through so many hoops being from South Africa and trying to find a remote role 😭

Awesome video. Wonder if you try to break into tech sales and you still in university. Is the mentioned startup experience valuable or internships are something non-negotiable?

Hey Matt could you give your thoughts on my new job? I’m starting Monday
T mobile (big company)
Telecoms (seems like a need to have to me)
They hired me as a Team account executive which is kinda like a Jr AE I don’t get my own territory I work all territories of the team and I’m guaranteed the next available territory (even if a spot opens on my first week is what the manger told me)
Sales managers seem great
Quota attainment for the team is 70%
56k base salary
36k OTE
92k in total plus 3k in stocks

I have experience in sales but none in b2b love to hear your thoughts on this opportunity 🙏🏻

is higher levels a good option for someone outside the US? Is there even a way to work for the top tech companies while being in Europe?

this is quite surprising... i recently started working for a start up... well technically its not a start up anymore its hit 10Mil....
but i was shocked to hear when you said go for a bigger company because they have processes set and they know what's working for them
Question: For a person who joins a big tech firm.. wouldn't the quota and expectations be too much to handle?
