What is Dialectical Materialism? | One Minute Marx

Noah Khrachvik is a proud working class member of the Communist Party USA. He is 40 years old, married to the most understanding and patient woman on planet Earth (who puts up with all his deep-theory rants when he wakes up at two in the morning and can't get back to sleep) and has a twelve-year-old son who is far too smart for his own good. When he isn't busy writing, organizing the working class, or fixing rich people's houses all day, he enjoys doing absolutely nothing on the couch, surrounded by his family and books by Gus Hall.

Matter tells space how to curve.

Space tells matter how to move.

I love how everything Marx said describe a mechanism or principal in physic, he may use a different world to describe the same thing yet there are people who still claim it's not based on reality.

This is excellent! Would you do also videos of the laws of DM? Breaking it down like you do makes DM so much more accessible. Thanks!

My only problem is that things are usually much more complicated than just two contradictory forces. Especially when analyzing society, the interaction between economy, industry, cultural movements, language, geography etc. is very complex and reducing it to "base and superstructure" or "two forces that eventually negate" is far too simplistic of a model to be useful.

Materialism is based though.

If it’s big sounding and scary it’s probably a distraction. Better to use time going to work, making money.

I've been feeling lately that dialectical materialism is just "Systems Thinking"

Dialectical Materialism is a philosophy that is the study of motion and exploration of reality being defined by materialism

I'm struggling with this concept and have an assignment that asks "useing the concept of DIALECTICAL MATERIALISM, trace the history of marijuana legislation in the U.S." Any feedback?

My issue is that we still have not proven that there isn't a metaphysical realm. Like most cults and religions, this jumps to a conclusion with many assumptions about the human condition. We simply have not advanced enough to prove we are just objects in motion. Although materialism sounds more "logical", there are many cases throughout history in which we are stumped by a discovery which contradicts a widely accepted belief. Have we disproved the idea of consciousness? No. This is the problem with ideological extremism as it suggests that "we are doing what is objectively the truth", like a religion, rather than understanding the truth is ever changing and accepting that there is a middle ground and more balanced perspective, the ideology justifies its extremism.

I do have a question

I've heard marxists claim that anarchism is utopian and unscientific because they don't use dialectical materialism.

But i've never seen anarchists at large be anti dialectical materialism, I also don't see any reason why dialectical materialism can't be used to support the anarchist position

because of the material reality of how states are structured the state (and by extension the communist party) will inevitably misrepresent the will of the working class. This conflict between the inaccurate representation of ideas and the proletariat cannot be resolved without the negation of the state.

is that not an example of anarchists using dialectics to disprove the marxist position of the state. to clarify I'm not an anarchist I'm just trying to understand the marxist position.
