Marx actually argue that "according to the materialist conception of history, the ultimately determining element in history is the production and reproduction of human life" (Engels 1883). Engels goes on to write that "if somebody twists this into saying that the economic factor is the only determining one, he is transforming that proposition into a meaningless, abstract, absurd phrase". So yeah, economics play a role in historical materialism, as they do in most everything, but they aren't the main idea presented in the theory.

I learned more about Marxism in this video than i have in the many years interacting and watching marxist users and content online. This just reminds me that basically no one online that claims the title of “socialist” or “marxist” knows what the hell they’re advocating.

This all falls apart at the end of the video. Marx made no distinction between Socialism and Communism, and the Dictatorship of the Proletariat (rather than some established social epoch) is the transformation of capitalism into socialism.
