I hope we see a lot more of Pen and Colin in Season 4. I think we were cheated out of a good deal of screen time with them. something felt off. What I think we were missing was a good reconciling love scene between the two of them.

That line "ladies don't have dreams they have husbands!" Cuts so deep for women of that time and many many years after till maybe the 60's. The woman who could follow her dream was rare.

She asked Shonda what was the most stressful situation? Lady Featherton situation made me cry - the Mom had to take care of 3 daughters - 2 of them clueless about money and running a household. When she said she married for security (last episode) - but her husband left her in debt! Very frightening...can you truly blame her for thinking of scamming the ton?, not knowing where the money is going to come from? Her situation was very realistic to me and my own Mom went through that after her divorce with my Dad.

Just watched the 2nd part 4 episodes. I have to slow clap well freaking done to the best 4 episodes of tv I have ever seen. Wow. Everything about these eps was stellar, and I laughed and cried, cocked an eyebrow or two, jaw hit the floor a couple times, and I just loved every second of it, except one tragic error in judgment on the part of the writers.

Only one flaw really. I am incensed that I won't get my Michael as he was the hottest character in the whole series and none of Francesca's story can happen without him. Literally. Michaela can't be the new Earl who feels like she usurps John's life which prevents her from being with Francesca, because Michaela is a woman so she can't be an Earl. Francesca can't have kids with Michaela, so her two desperately wanted children just died before they happened. As precedent was already set by Benedict's art class friend that same sex relations are punishable by hanging, we can't very well have Francesca hanged either nor hide her story from London gossips as she's the lead character. Michaela isn't the Harlequin Romance God all tortured, angsty, broody and sexy steel that Michael was. He was Edward Cullen minus the sparkle and blood. Face it, they got this one wrong. It's a change that cannot be made. Benedict can be bi, no problem, they've already got a date set for the ball where he'll meet Sophie. Hell, even Eloise could have a same-sex tryst and we'd believe that, as long as she still marries Phillip, but Francesca, well, that's just not her character and we're not going to buy that, and we're going to be furious to be denied our Michael who was the only part of Francesca's story that was even interesting. Bad move. It won't be worth watching if you have to completely come up with a whole new story. That's no longer an adaptation of the book, it's a whole new book. What were they thinking?
