Synology drive is the backbone of our bussiness, every computer has a copy of the active projects. So everybody has quick access to large media files on thier local SSD.
We really love Synology Drive!❤

We encouter only 2 problems:
1. When moving a whole project to the archive, the folder keeps popping up because 1 user has some hidden file that being put back on the server. Only workaround is renaming the project folder del_projectname and say to everybody to delete all del_ folders
2. Sometimes the clients just keeps hanging in "processing" mode. It just hangs restarting the program does not work. A bit more info in the client about the file that is causing the problem would be nice.

Feature requests:
1. Newest files first. Sometimes a computer has been off a few days. But is needed to work on a project. I first gets the oldest file, while the help is needed on files that are just been created.
2. Recent changes. Show recent changes also in the app and not only in the popup.

Can you add the ability to Check-In/Check-Out files? I understand that i can have multiple people working on a document at the same time but there are some use cases where I would like to make sure the file is locked to only one person at a time.

Can you add the ability to centrally control which users have the ability to use File Pinning to their local device? Having the ability to control that globally or on a folder level would be great.

The Synology Drive client for macOS is pretty rough around the edges, it needs some serious TLC…

The notification overlays are extremely rough & don’t utilise native macOS notifications but rather their own overlay which messes with other native notifications as it just overlays itself over them making for a broken UI.
The client also lacks some basic alert functionality, I’ve often found myself in the position where I was not alerted that the client was no longer syncing for various different reasons with no alert or change in the menu bar icon or any notification of any sort... I have to constantly check up on the client to make sure it’s still syncing… it’s happened too many times to count now… highly frustrating.

Correction:

Original statement: It also lacks the capability to sync Synology Drive folders to a secondary internal or external drive on the Mac… this means I’m limited to only sync to my boot drive. A very irritating oversight in my opinion…

Edit: It seems syncing to external drive now works on the latest version… thumbs up for that!

Regarding the task of actually syncing files the app is pretty damn robust, I can’t really complain there, it’s just the UI & notification behaviour that is a bit rough, otherwise, great work from Synology.

*Caution with Synology Drive!, users will lose data!*
as soon as files and directories are synchronized on which a user has just read-only rights.

The bug is that files and directories on the synced devices are not marked as 'readonly'.
Therefore, users can then modify these files and Synology Drive simply overwrites the user-data from the NAS and the data is lost.

We have reported the bug several times, but the support team does not understand the problem (what a shame!) and turns it into a new feature request.
Apparently the product team doesn't understand the problem either, otherwise the bug should have been fixed a long time ago.

I only want to sync a specific folder and it's subfolders within a shared folder using the Team Folder. Is this possible? The folder is 6 levels deep from the root of the shared folder. Do I have to create a new shared folder and move the target folder in it? Really don't want to do this if not necessary. Am I missing how to do this?

Please make it so that Synology Photos is backed up the same way as Synology Drive.

one question, if i have one file in drive, and i upload the same file from android drive app what is the setting to skip the upload ? now it uploads the files and keep the both files

I have setup for my team but got the problem with real-time syncing between branches.
I have 2 bays synology NAS with ssd installed.
I felt it not as fast compared to other cloud platforms.
Is that something related to the internet? Do i need to increase the internet speed?

My Drive is a folder create by Synology Drive. Is there a way to backup MyDrive to offsite storage eg S3?

What would be much more useful for me is a real VPN solution that allows me to access my servers from a remote location as though I were in my office, i.e. mapped drives that don't fall over once I'm in a hotel room!

How can you prevent the full folder path being created? Can’t it make the folder from where it’s checked?

It can't ignore subfolders which is very big miss. I had to revert my workflow to rsync for that reason

Anyone else dealing with versions eating the memory? I've disabled versions and the 4 drives are still full 5 days later.

And still NO ability to edit files on iPad or Android, something FREE NextCloud can do easily with FREE OnlyOffice integration.
Synology Drive is far from comprehensive. If a free cloud solution does what an over priced paid version can't, why waste your money.
I have a Synology NAS and Truenas with Nextcloud on a home PC ( which costs nothing for the software ) and Truenas with Nextcloud is way better for file editing and collaboration !!!
When is Synology going to start listening to what their customers want, including the re introduction of the duplicate file finder/remover that was in the Synology Moments app, but was removed for the latest Synology Photos app.
Synology is getting more like Apple all the time " We will only give you what we decide you want "

We are sorry to hear that your DS218 has to be reset. This is likely caused by an issue in the DSM operating-system.

We understand that you are worried about losing your data. Please rest assured, your data should not be affected by the reset as the OS and data are stored in separate partitions on the drives. When re-installing the OS, the system should normally not touch the data-partitions of your drives.
I beleived and i did what he said now all my data erased omg i shocked after sir Steve Baker dissepeared i am alone there is nothing in my hands
Synology is regret bad nas choose qnap there isnt good support for problemss !!!
