This can be very nice and easy to use front-end for NAS backups. Or just another useless fancy external drive.

So how is this any different than a wireless USB A/USB C backup that already exists? A overpriced ssd in wifi enclosure? Seagate already did this and it sucked, real bad. The biggest problem being overheating of the wifi module when doing large data syncs, over wifi or plugged in, and app support dropped. Someone else also mentioned it. Seagate Wireless, was a cool idea, but it failed pretty hard and turned out being unreliable.

Is this for people who don't use a NAS, or any type of cloud storage?

Wireless external hard drives are alright but app support is gonna be a main concern later on. I have something similar but it's Seagate Wireless; it's pretty old and it's no longer really supported. I don't really use it anymore. Maybe I should once I transfer old files.

Confusing video! Can this be used for mobile backup of photos from a phone without using a computer? It seems to me that this is what most users would want. There are, of course, lots of options for that, but a Synology-quality one would be welcome. Without that capability, this appears to be just another external hard drive. Synology, your marketing for this is, so far, a huge fail.

Considering that Time Machine does not work with Synology, this could be a good solutoin. I use Onedrive to make backups...

I'd like this kind of product but with internal built in wireless network adapter where I can connect multiple pc/laptop to it ... a portable NAS.
