How To Build Your First Fabrication Project

Today on Dirt Lifestyle, we are building your first fabrication project! I'm going to go into more detail on this project for those of you that are brand new to metal fabrication.
This video is for someone that has been practicing welding and is ready to start their first project. It's likely that your early projects will be bumpers, fenders or sliders. In this video I'm going to build some steel fenders for my car trailer but these basic principles can be carried to just about anything.
Don't get discouraged! Fabrication is fun and it doesn't need to look incredible! I just needs to be functional!
Thanks for watching 👊

My first fab project was a welding table. My third was a bigger welding table.

Spent 45 years as a heavy duty truck tech and I learn something or see something of interest every time I watch one of your videos. Keep up the great job.

I'm just living vicariously through you. I don't have the tools or the money to buy the tools... Nor do I have a garage in which to do projects like this or to store said tools, if I could even afford them. LOL

Your welding play list should be called "sewing with FIRE!"

Starting out with not much to work with is ruff, that's how I started! I appreciate you showing it can be done working off the floor while you have a bench right there.

Coming from a wood working background and just about to buy my first welding machine so I can fix stuff on the farm. I can’t say how much I appreciate the “small stuff” explanations. Experienced folks take for granted stuff they know and it’s really helpful for us noobs. Thanks!

I was a fabricator professionally for 15 years, but haven't done it since 2008. A few days ago, bought a welder and getting back into it!

Nice video. I’ve been welding for years but I’m finally about to buy my first plasma cutter. I’ve used one a few times years ago at a place I used to work for, but I am really looking forward to getting proficient at it. Keep the fabrication videos coming!...love em 👍🏻

On those large gaps I like to use a 10 penny nail . It's pointed so it fits right up into the hinge point too. Throw in some center supports and you got some drive over fenders.

Thanks man! I'm a journey man plumber and I forgot I use to lay out using a chalk line on the ground. This just helped for me on my welding fab journey!

By far my favorite Jeep/Fab channel. Think the narrative and editing have a good flow and keep the interest going. 👍

Excellent video! I'm 72 years old, and after being without a shop for 30 years, I finally built one last year. Videos like this are very interesting. And thank God for Harbor Freight!! ;) I bought a multifunction welder, plasma cutter, etc. I also bought a portable band saw, like yours, for my Son for his birthday. Harbor Freight now has a band saw bracket where you can fasten your saw to a table, or even the wall. Keep up the good work!! And thanks for your time.

Love it. I've been welding a while, not professionally but love watching these kinds of videos. Keeps the creative juices flowing. Thank you.

I am glad to see this type of videos, where people do things for themselves so that the apprentices take confidence in them .... good job JKs.. excellent content

Thank you so much for your videos and not sounding like a Chad, You explain everything and you really get things done. I see other welders that try and act like they know it all or like they're trying to compensate for something but you go slow. You take your time and you do it right. Thank you for showing us how it's done. I really appreciate your videos

Another rad video man! Thank you for breaking everything down on the fabrication segments. It’s cool to see fab from this point of view.

the bandsaw i a game changer, id recommend that for anyone that wants to get into serious fab work, got my Milwaukee for 180 from a pawnshop, looked like it was never used so it was good for me

I appreciate you taking the time and sharing that this is a functional item and not a a pretty gussied up item. Don't be hard on yourself and get discouraged to even try because that is exactly what I do and its nice to have a reminder to just do something the best you can and it will work out and you will gain the confidence and experience to build other things even better.

Great quality on these vids. Pro relevant b-rolls, streamlined editing, no ranting to the camera at one angle for 7 mins.. great
