I spent literally HOURS worth of reading on Reddit and watching videos on this very topic. I finally decided the internet was so split that I just ordered both and tried them out for myself. I agree with you, I'm a huge fan of the 11in iPad Pro and here's how I boiled it down: the 12.9 inch I LOVED as my desk, but HATED it on the couch. The 11 inch I LOVED on the couch, and LIKED at my desk, so it ended up winning because for me, I wanted to at least like every interaction I have with my tech.

My logic is: If you’re buying this as a laptop replacement, go with the 12.9. But if you’re using in conjunction with a laptop, the 11 just makes more sense

A 12 inch Ipad would've been literally perfect.

As a student that has to look at notes/textbooks while writing or typing at the same time, it really helps to have the 12.9 inch. Some of my friends that have the 11 inch find it hard to utilize the split screen mode as much. Pretty minor difference though.

i have the 12.9 and i could never go smaller! yes it is a little heavier but i still can carry it, it doesnt lose its portability at all!

Well honestly, the best size for the iPad Pro would be 12”. Maybe at the most you can make it ~12.3”

I prefer the 11" model. The 12.9" feels like i'm holding a food tray. 😅

Basically as an aspirant musician I love the almost A4 version of the iPad the 12.9 because it’s way better to read sheet music, instead of printing a bunch of sheet music.

I'm a medical student and so we move around all the time in the wards. Smaller iPad pro would be much more easier to hold and move around all day on the wards.

Legitimately thinking of copping this

decided to go with the new 12.9 inch. yeah i kinda wish it was as easier to hold with one hand but i’d rather have the larger screen and extra real-estate for note-taking, photo editing and media consumption.

People act like the 12.9 inch is 50 pounds 😂 . The thing is NOT heavy lol

I had the 11” iPad Pro for a year and sold it to get an iPad Pro with more storage. I bought both an 11” & 12.9” at Best Buy knowing I would return whichever one I liked the least. The iPad 12.9” was the way to go for me. It is bigger and heavier, but the screen real estate makes a huge difference. Multitasking is actually fun and useful on the 12.9” while it is more of a cool trick that’s not quite worth using on the 11”. The 11” is definitely more portable, but they are both tablets and very portable. The iPad 12.9” is the size of a piece of paper, so if you can’t fit that in your backpack then you need a new backpack. All that being said if money is an issue, and you have to have usb-c (which you do) then get the 11” you won’t be sorry. If you have the extra $200 lying around then you’ll want the 12.9”. Cheap mans pro tip, buy used at a retailer if you can. I saved $160 buying a used 12.9” from apple which paid for the bigger screen. They come with the same warranty’s a new iPad.

Bought the 12.9 after watching this. Best decision I've made

Personally i went with the 11, but mainly because i will use it on the go and already own a pretty powerful desktop PC at home, so the 12.9 made no sense to me. Very happy with the choice, its exactly what i expected

I use a 13" MacBook Pro so the 12.9" iPad Pro would seem the ideal size to use with sidecar. The perfect mobile office.

I initially bought the 12.9” Pro along with the Brydge Pro keyboard. I thought I liked it until my coworker brought in her 11” Pro. I went as far to ask her if she wanted to trade. She gave me a blank look. I became determined to get the 11” Pro and ended up selling my 12.9” to get the 11” instead. Haven’t been more content since then.

Ordered 11 inch today. After watching tons of videos, I came to a conclusion that 12.9" is only sweet for desk, and need to carry it whole day along with me. Also pencil added up more.

I have the 2018 12.9 - and as much as I love it - I found myself always doing couch surfing on my 10.5 Pro. I’m retired, so I have little need to have a full functioning computer - that said, that OG 10.5 was starting to lose battery faster and faster. I could drain it in a matter of hours - so it felt like the right time to upgrade and the 2020 11” just made sense. But I still use both, I use the big boy for media content, and the little boy for reading blogs and social networking etc. I dunno, they both have room in my life - but if I didn’t have the money to have both, I absolutely feel the 11 is the most bang for your buck. They are incredible devices and I haven’t used a PC or laptop in almost 6 years or whenever the very first Pro model came out. And for the record, there is zero noticeable difference in the speeds. The 2018 is still blazing fast, hell, even the 10.5 from 2017 still blazes through anything I need it for, just a bad battery life.

I’m on 12.9 inch iPad Pro, upgrade from the 10.5” iPad Pro. For the first month, the portability is really killing me, but the benefit of having more screen real estate has finally made me feel good about switching to its bigger cousin.
