THE TRUTH! iPad Air 5 vs 11” M1 iPad Pro

Should you buy the iPad Air 5 or the 11” M1 iPad Pro? Which iPad is a better value? Ever since Apple added the M1 chip to the iPad Air 5, I’ve been thinking about a very interesting question - Will more people get the less-expensive iPad Air 5 instead of the 11” M1 iPad Pro? Or are these two iPads close enough in price, where you’re better off in the long-run, spending the extra cash for the improved features of the iPad Pro? And, I gotta tell you - this was tougher than I thought.

For mothersday I purchased an iPad Air 5 for my wife. She consumes TV on it, no gaming and is generally in the house. I own the iPad 11 Pro, and I fully agree with your observations and advice.

Great video!! This is the exact comparison I did a few weeks ago. I watched several of your videos on the benefits of each model and I eventually purchased the iPad Pro 11 inch based on 1) I like Face ID, 2) I like the 120Hz refresh rate, 3) I like the sound 4) and finally 64gb was too small and the Pro offered 128gb. I feel I made the best choice for the longer term.

I bought the iPad Pro 11” last week and sent it back after 48 hours. It just wasn’t worth it for me personally. Didn’t need the extra wide camera or LiDAR Scanner as don’t take pics on iPad, just scan the odd doc. Honestly only noticed the Promotion screen when moving across the Home Screen pages, and wasn’t noticeable once in most apps or games. The quad speakers were great but I rarely use my iPad for music and reckon sound coming out of both sides is enough of an upgrade. Personally, I actually missed TouchID too coming from a 6th Gen iPad before. Ordered an iPad Air 5 now instead, and reckon it’s more than enough for the average user like myself. My advice would be unless you’re an actual Pro artist or graphic designer, save yourself £200 and get the Air, or put the savings towards the Magic Keyboard, or Pencil. AppleCare for the Pro is double the price of the Air, and it’s not long now till the new 2022 M2 Pro will be released. Unpopular opinion but it’s a no brainer to me. The average user has zero actual need for the Pro features.

Thanks for the video i just bought my ipad pro m1 11" 3 days ago and i absolutely fall in love with it. My first apple device and tbh it's the only apple device i really interested in. 120hz, quad speaker is really a game changer here for me bcs i play a ton of games and watch a lot of animes and movies, ofc ill be needing both of these features in order to maximize my satisfaction. The ipad m1 is just insanely valuable to me and i glad that i pick right.

After watching your video, I feel confident I made the right choice today when I purchased the Air 5 with 256gb. I was all set to pay $899 for the 11 pro, but noticed the Air 5 for a price I could not pass up and for what I use it for I think it was the smart decision. Anyway, thanks for all the great information, your videos are great! I also think I will be purchasing the Logitech Smart Folio keyboard for it along with the paper white screen protector you spoke of. Thanks again!

Just went with the air 5, works fine for what I need, I'd rather save the money than shell out extra for features I don't need.

iPad Pro 2018 owner here. I prefer Face ID over Touch ID every time, but if iPadOS 16 allows me to unlock with my Apple Watch, suddenly this becomes irrelevant. I'm finding the iPad Air 5 very compelling, but lack of pro motion is making me reluctant.

According to Apple Event 2020, the iPad Air Was made to have the features of the iPad Pro Lineup but at a cheaper price. So it makes so much sense why the iPad Air is still 60Hz!

the extra $150 is worth it for the Pro over the Air. Brighter screen, Motion pro display, an extra 2 hours of battery life and way better sound speakers.

I've never had an apple product but I've been leaning towards the iPad air 5, I'd mostly be using it for drawing, watching videos and maybe a few games. The pro seems nicer but I don't think I really need all the extra bells and whistles plus money wise the air is more in my budget. Still figuring it out this was a very informative video

I prefer the Touch ID. Because I like to lay my IPad on the table to write, and I always have to move up towards the Face ID sensor or lift up the iPad to authenticate. Which I find very inconvenient

Great content as usual. I just bought the iPad Pro M1 as the 128gb 11inch model was retailing for $699 on Amazon. The 256gb M1 air was also reduced to around $679, but the shipping times were too long for comfort. The storage on entry level pro is fine for me, especially with various cloud options available.

OK, just cancelled my Ipad Air 5th gen purchase because I just got an insane deal on the 2021 Ipad Pro 11 for $549. 128GB, true motion 120 hz display, face id, M1 processor, ultra wide camera, 4 speakers, thunderbolt support, 600 nits bright display and a few other things I’m leaving out I’m sure but no brainer, way better features and specs than the 2022 Ipad Air all for $250 off. Stoked!

iPad Pro 11 with Pro-motion, 120hz & quad speakers for the 128gb storage option and 8gb RAM is one of the best iPads ever imo

At the beginning, I regreted buying my 11 inch ipad Pro in December when the iPad air 5 came out. However, I realize now that it is still a great device and still has some key advantages over the air 5.

I've used both the the ipad air 5 and ipad pro 11 inch and their both fantastic. I live in Canada and the 64gb ipad air 5 is $749 and the ipad pro 11 inch 128gb is $999. I wanted more storage space and the ipad air 5 256gb is $50 less than the pro. I decided to go with the pro for the 120hz display and better audio quality. 128gb is more than enough storage for me! I do miss the fingerprint sensor as it's a more secure way to protect your data but they face id works really well under low light. If I were to give anyone advice it would be stick within your budget and also try both ipads at your local electronic store and see which one is best for you!

I'd say save up a bit and then get the M1 iPad Pro, or if you're on a budget, you can also consider the A12Z iPad Pro.

Right now with these two versions, the difference in spec isn't enough for me to justify the difference in cost. However, I *am* considerng a Pro specifically for the larger 12.9" screen.
Regarding the biometrics, for me I prefer the fingerprint scanner on the iPad because I often use it on a surface in front of me. However, I don't care enough for that to play into my decision-making.

You are the reason why I bought my very first ipad pro 11. "Buy it nice, or buy it twice." Thank
