As an ultralight operator who lost a friend to slow turns near the ground, I was nervous seeing this gentleman flying so slowly! Agreed, keep your airspeed well above stall when turning. I figured he must have prior flying experience, seeing how he never overcontrolled this Quicksilver. It's a forgiving aircraft, but I strongly, strongly recommend people get training before trying this! You might survive a crash OK, but crashes are expensive. (I speak from experience. ;-)

Man, you can thank that amazing flying machine for gifting you with a spare life I’m telling ya..

Oh man! I clenched watching that first slow turn! I come from the glider side of aviation and that slow, steep turn would have ended badly in a glider.

Jesus this had me on edge! I thought for sure a few times he was going to just fall. Airspeed. AIRSPEED!

3:43 - "It's completely different than what I'm used to flying." That's what I thought, he's maybe a newbie to an ultralight, but not to flying an airplane. As a pilot (Comm/inst, SEL, 320 TT) I could tell he knew what he was doing. An ultralight is quite easy to learn quickly for a fixed wing pilot with knowledge of aerodynamics and airplane operation.

Years ago for use in my work I purchased a set of voice operated walkie talkie headsets. They're better suited for this single seat instruction .

Dude almost stalled the thing in that turn…Holy crap!

Omg. I have no idea how he didn't stall when he had the throttle at half speed and mad a foolish low altitude turn. His second run was very nice. Go buy a lottery ticket today.

Brings back memories, just keep in mind, a 2 cycle engine when it decides to quit it will with little or no warning speed and altitude are your friends. Former ultralight pilot / instructor have fun!

You were insanely close to a stall-spin situation in that turn into the corn, dude. WATCH YOUR AIRSPEED!

So I learned how to fly an ultralight in a Eipper Quicksilver. First, I don’t think Ed (my navy pilot instructor) would ever let me fly without eye protection and a helmet. That first banked turn was sketchy dude. The landing? Outstanding! But keep your airspeed up man…

I fly a Kolb. I would strongly recommend eye protection, as a few bugs in your eyes and things get ugly! Otherwise, looked good.

I wasn't nervous at all until I sat in one for the first time. I felt so vulnerable.

Airspeed is nearly always your friend. 🙂

Straight-out climb-out! That first bank over the corn had the old bung-hole clenched. Second go was 👌

Certified Private Pilot here... I'd suggest a few lessons, especially ones that include stalls. Also, the BEST book on flying I've ever read is "Stick and Rudder, The Art of Flying" by Wolfgang Langewiesche.

Yeah, a helmet is must. I learned to fly UL’s in that very model and probably have 300 hrs in flight time. I then transitioned into a full 3 axis model with better range and more instruments including a ballistic parachute, thank you BRS, and flew that for another 6 years of wonderful desert flying. Oh those morning sunrises!!

You can be dang glad that was a quicksilver MX, that turn over the corn would not have gone well in any other aircraft!

Lol. Dude made it! I saw that first turn too before hitting the comments section.
Woah! He's going down!!
