10 Aircraft You Can Fly Without a Pilot License

There is a popular believe that, you can’t mention both aircraft and cheap in the same sentence, because generally, aircraft are perceived to be outrageously expensive to own and operate. A lot of people have dreams of owning and flying their own aircraft around, but the logistics is a complete nightmare, so we made a list of aircraft that will only cost as much as an SUV. These aircraft are classified under the F.A.R PART 103 ultra-light category, meaning that operators are not required to meet any aeronautical knowledge, age, or experience requirements.

At a minimum please obtain a student license, so you understand basic flight controls, maneuvers, and VFR regs.

In other countries you need to have a license and an authority to fly and it will cost money and effort to go legal.

“Legal” and “safe” aren’t same thing! You can’t cheap-ass flying unless you have a death wish. Get the training and and be prepared to spend way more than you expect regardless of aircraft initial cost.

In The U.S. a Licence may not be required, yet most other countries will require a Pilots licence of some sort.

John Uptigrove, the designer of the original Mosquito helicopter, died in a crash when his helicopter hit a power line about 75 feet up in the air. It happened a few years ago just south of Calgary, Alberta. John was 54, married, two adult children. Current versions of the Mosquito helicopter are still being produced and sold by a company in Florida.
