With the highly anticipated live action adaptation of Disney’s Mulan fresh on everyone’s minds, we thought it would be fun to look back at not only the original Mulan, but its sequel Mulan II.

The original film introduced arguably Disney’s strongest princess while Mulan II introduced us to some new characters and expanded on the characteristics of our old favorites. And it’s our job to ask the question: who is ultimately the most evil of all the major players in the Mulan universe? And who is the most good? Well, Let’s Find Out.

Funny enough, Shan Yu is arguably (apart from Mulan, obviously) the less sexist character in that whole movie.

Shan Yu's only redeeming quality is that he doesn't discriminate. He's still pure evil otherwise.

I want to say: Li Shang could have followed traditional Chinese rules and killed Mulan, but knowing she saved his life, he instead spares hers. Standing up to ancient corrupt laws to do the right thing, that's a GOOD thing to do, and takes plenty of courage. That's why I think he should have been placed higher up, Mulan II not being important.

I think you guys really messed up the Emperor. You are only looking at it through modern eyes which is not the best way to view an ancient culture. The Emperor was literally doing it to save his people at the expense of his own family. That's not morally gray.

Mushu is not evil!
He should've been placed in the grey area.
In the evil area, I would've put:

3) Qui Gong Emperor (he's the technical antagonist of Mulan 2, but he surrenders when ordered by "The Golden Dragon of Unity", which was really Mushu in disguise, to marry Mulan & Shang instead)
2) Chi Fu (basically the secondary villain of the first Mulan, a chauvinistic, misogynistic asshole)
1) Shan Yu, from the first Mulan, you know why.

Absolutely LOVE Mulan. I’m debating if I want to spend $29.99 on this live action version that came out today. I don’t know how good it with be without the comic relief of Mushu.

Reflection used to be my favorite song from “Mulan” but after a while I fell in love with “I’ll Make A Man Out Of You” to the point that I always get super giddy when that song comes on, basically to the point of fan girling over it.
