Should children wear a mask during the COVID-19 pandemic?

As we face the most crucial global health calamity today the wearing of masks has become a necessity. But did you know when and how should children wear a mask?

✔ Children under the age of 5 are not required to wear a mask unless they are feeling unwell or due to reasonable requests from the local authorities.
✔ Children from 6 to 11 years old can wear a mask and advised. Make sure they wear it properly and under adult supervision.
✔ Children above the age of 12 years old should wear a mask and follow the same guidelines as adults.
✔ Wearing masks should not be mandatory for children with developmental disorders or disabilities. It should be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

There are different types of face mask options and it's important to understand which face mask works best and how effective they are:
✅ Medical masks should be used when a child has underlying health issues
✅ Fabric masks can be used by children in good health condition when social distancing cannot be observed.

How to properly wear a mask?
✅ Before putting on masks wash hands for at least 40 seconds when using soap and clean water. If access to water isn't available to clean hands with alcohol-based solutions for at least 20 seconds.
✅ Make sure the mask fits to cover the nose mouth and chin.
✅ Avoid touching the front of the masks.
✅ It must be worn properly and not under the chin.
✅ Masks are for personal use and should not be shared.
✅ Store the used fabric mask in a container and wash your hands.
