What age should children stop sleeping with parents?

I get not sleeping every night, (you want them to be able to sleep on there own) but like if my daughter is sick or has a nightmare I’m not gonna send her back to her room. (Keep in mind she is 6)

Im 14 and I still sleep in my parents room. We have another room in which I can sleep in but my parents wont let me sleep there and I dont even know whyy, it seems weird tho

I’m 28 and I think my 6 year old brother is too old to still be sleeping with my mom. He is way too clingy. He even hangs out in my moms rooms when she takes naps. He just sits by her side.

I hated it when my Mom wanted to nap with me. I could not sleep, and she always yelled at me for not staying still. What was wrong with her. I was 5-8 years old. Hated it! hated it! hated it!

I slept in my mums bed every night till I was about 9/10. Not even tryna swap sob stories or smthn, but my dad left when I was 6/7, and I dont think she liked sleeping alone, cause even some nights I wanted to sleep in my sisters room (we shared it)
And she would get kinda sad. Then she got a new partner and he moved in lol and I started sleeping in my own bed straight away. Tbh, I'm kinda glad I stopped tho before I was like... 11 or 12, because I would've been more mature n stuff then, and grown up, and it would've been harder to sleep alone. I'm kinda independent now tho, idk, its rlly weird. I went from being completely dependent on my mum for everything, to literally just not wanting her help for anything in the space of a year.

I am 12. I slept with them for a while since my sister was still living with us, then as soon as she moved out my dad took advantage of the bed and slept there, then i told him i wanted to sleep there and i did it for like a few months - 1 and a half years now that my dad passed away, my mom is not doing well emotionally, and she told me that she wanted me to sleep with her because of her emotions and she also knows that most of my breakdowns are at night. Now that my grandpa passed away this won’t be any better, a few weeks ago i slept without her though because a really bad storm had happened and it was like104-111 degrees and we didnt have any air conditioning and nothing to be able to keep our food good so we had to go to my grandmas house, and i told my mom to lay in the bedroom, and then i slept on the couch. And I’ve been sleeping with her less because of my sleep schedule, she goes to work at 5:40 and gets there at 6:00. I just haven’t got much sleep and I’ve been getting in to bed while she leaves and at most 2 hours before she leaves, which most of that is spent with insomnia. And i want to move back into my room, but theres somuch trash and we’ve been so busy with everything we don’t have time to clean it up. So yea, , :/

When I have kids I’m not going to baby them. They need to be independent and not sheltered. I don’t think I’d let my kid sleep with me if they they have their own bed. Which they should.

When I was younger I always slept next to my mom, mainly because of our cramped apartment but it was never a strange thing for me, it’s mainly in the west where they find sleeping next to parents weird. I’m from South Asia where it’s basically a normal thing.

This is a western perspective. Kids need security upto a point and that must be evaluated individually.

Sleeping till your in your teens ( 15 ) to be exact, and with a male figure who is not your bio father or bio father on a daily basis if possible seems the mother needs to have a reality check. This is a true story and it still going on, they know I say something but yet the mother thinks it's harmless it's just a crush. You guys leave a comment for her to open her eyes and really see what's going on.

Don't listen to this guy, I have kids, each time my son tells me he wants to sleep beside I let him to sleep close to me in the same bed, this will make strong bond between me and my son, also he grows up I slowly teach him to sleep in his own bed, when he asks me for new bed I know he is ready

Been sleeping in my parents room since 2001, junior 1 bedroom apartment - bunk bed. Wasn't until 2016 we moved out, but I didn't mind it and would do it again if had to happen again.
