After owning a GMT and OP for almost 10 years I wanted to get myself a Hulk for my 60th birthday,
about 2 weeks later I came across a page about high end clones and decided to give it a try.
Once came I compared it to my original GMT (in terms of quality, feeling of the steel etc),
I understood one thing, China can't be beaten. There is no chance ANYONE will be able to spot it as a fake,
Even the inside movement is identical. The build quality and finish put a lot of legitimate Swiss brands to shame.

The thing about being a Rolex owner like myself is no one except for you believes it's a real Rolex.

Now that the minimum wage is going up to $15.00 an hour, I just might get me one.

The gatekeeper of my watch collection is the Gshock Square. No matter how much i want certain watches, the Gshock always reminds me that it will get the most wristtime anyway, as it suits my lifestyle the best. So its very hard to justify any new (pricy) purchases.

I've started to like aluminum bezels more than uber shiny ceramic or sapphire. Looks warm and classic, more tool-like, not as fancy to be sure. And I totally agree about those macho lugs. Overkill.

As general patton once said : “it’s not important that they know, it’s only important that I know”

Give me an omega any day. I'd only get a Rolex sub if I can find an affordable vintage model. Other than that I'd prefer a Tudor or the milgauss if its got to be a rolex.

I work with someone who owns a Rolex . I seen him wearing it and I complimented him on it. He said, "I was young and stupid. I was in love with Rolex, and I wanted one in the worst way, and that's how I got one. In the worst way.' Someone was selling one. The owner said "I'm letting it go, because it was his father's. It had to many bad feelings with the watch. Sure, It needed a little work, but that wouldn't be hard. So he was going to let it go cheap." So, he buys it, and it stopped working the next day. He took it to a watch maker, and he said, "You were cheated." He got it running, but it lost twenty minutes everyday. After six months, he noticed how bad the watch was. It was constantly in the shop. He went to better watch maker, and he said it's not fixable, well not fixable by him." He put a Seikio movement in it, and it's fine now.

I am totally with you on the fat lugs. Any "fat-lug" Sub is not the perfect aesthetic. The thinner ones are. Even if they don't have all of the newest features. The only must-have feature for the previous versions (in my opinion) is a sapphire crystal. I don't own one yet, but if I were buying right now - it would be a 16613. Who knows, maybe they will slim the lugs back down for "retro" look someday.

I had this all stainless GMT-Master II, absolutely gorgeous. I also met this girl, also a beautiful young lady. I have literally not seen either since. :(

Its just a stainless steel watch at the end of the day, you can get the same engineering and manufacturing standard for sub 2k watches, and now in 2022 the price is just criminally stupid ala berkin bag territory, so its just a brand now, the price has nothing at all to do with the watch anymore

Too many comments saying they wouldn’t get a Rolex because of their wife etc.; fellas if your wife is holding you back from doing what you want, you aren’t in a relationship with someone who will pump you up to go for the things you want in life. The last thing my future wife will ever do is tell me I can’t spend money on a watch, car, guitar, etc. Because they’ll motivate me and push me to become more successful and eventually acquire the things I want. : )

Always wanted a Porsche 911 always said I would buy one if I ever had the money. A friend got one out for a weekend thinking of buying it and my dream died that weekend. Just wasn't anything like I imagined didn't push all the buttons I had thought it would, better sometimes to let Dreams be just that.

Live within your means. That simple. Value is what you perceive it to be.

You just convinced me. The new lugs are too much. Looks like a square block on the wrist.

I bought this model in 2013 as a high end piece for myself I still have it and I rotate it for special occasions and still love the look...I understand the reviewers point and Rolex should have kept the old design in at the time but I think this was new territory for them...but regardless of the review I still love mine and I don't regret purchasing it.

Don't waste your money!! some 20 to 30 years down the line Rolex won't service it for you. "No spare parts for your vintage watch". Personal experience with them on a 1950s watch in 1980.
