Elizabeth knew if she were to marry the nation would rip itself apart. So many wanted her to marry Catholic princes, but she was like, "I rather marry the Nation." People who don't study history or pay attention to basic documentaries have no idea how close England was to having another War of the Roses and for it to collapse fully. Elizabeth saved England from being just a memory. She and Queen Mary 1 are my favorite monarchs of English history. Queen Elizabeth was a bad @$$... " I, too, can command the wind, sir! Queen Elizabeths' Armada fleets are legendary and made Spain bend the knee, which made the rest of the world tremble and take notice. It was said that Ivan the Terrible sent out love letters to her. Imagine if she accepted his offer. My goodness.
