Drama charting the latter half of the reign of Elizabeth I and the launching of the Spanish Armada by Philip II of Spain to attack England, Protestantism and Elizabeth I herself.

Ah, the first Elizabethan age. The Virgin Queen, Sir Walter Raleigh, the Spanish Armada. It's all here. Our favourite bit? The bit where Her Maj addresses the army with that famous speech on the eve of the Spanish invasion. It'll leave you in awe.

Henry's ruthlessness + Anne's temper = The greatest Queen in English history

What is funny about Cate Blanchett presence of stage and gravitas of acting is that you actually feel ROYAL AUTHORITY in her voice, she is every bit as regal as one can imagine, and her wrath when she says: "I too can command the wind, sir" is such that for a moment or two the viewer can be excused for actually taking the character word literally

Honestly, Cate Blanchet in this series is pretty much exactly how I imagine Elizabeth I to be. She perfectly nails the wise and astute, yet firey and tempestuous queen

Cate could have pulled off that stupid "There is a tempest in me!!" dialogue in RoP and still made it work purely with her commanding presence . LOL

Intelligence and charisma of her mother
Temper and brilliance of her father.
Elizabeth 1st was a deadly mix.

Anne Boleyn's little girl, as depicted by the sublime Genevieve Bujold in Anne of the Thousand Days. Half the movie is her tearing Henry a new one, just like this.

Love how she is portrayed here its symbolic, like prophecy, like her spirit was speaking, but her body self its unsure if she can even win, somewhere in there is a I MUST WIN, I AM ALL THAT I AM .

Fun fact, Cate Blanchett actually pulled her diaphragm muscle when she did this scene and that’s why her lips quiver at the end. She was in an insane amount of pain. She had to have physical therapy and everything. It’s a Boss scene though, and I’m sure she still thinks it was worth it!
