Glueing Strain Gauges onto a Shaft

This video covers the process of glueing strain gauges onto the shaft, once they have been bonded.

Firstly, you will need to properly mx the glue. Depending on your environment (whether it’s cold or warm), it can take you 1-5 minutes. Mix the glue in the packet, until it’s has a cloudy uniform colour.

Please make sure you mix all of the glue in the packet and none of it is stuck in the corners.

Once the glue is ready, cut off one corner of the packet, lift a strain gauge and apply a small amount of glue on the shaft and the strain gauge itself.

Then, place a piece of silicon gum over the strain gauge and cover with a piece of tape to hold this down in place. Put stainless steel strap over the silicon gum, making sure it’s centered.
