Strain gauge installation and demonstration

In this video I show how to install a strain gauge to the surface of a metal bar. Then, I demonstrate the change of the resistance of it upon deformation first with a multimeter, then through my circuit and software.

My circuit can be seen in the previous video in this topic:

Excellent demo, thanks. Would have been good to see the bar from the side, to get an idea of how much bend you are applying.

Great experiment. Never opened my scale but I thought the strain gauges needed to be attached in a more complicated way, that's great.

What is the built-in module you use (the one at 2:45)? I have developed my own circuit making a Wheatstone bridge and using an instrumental amplifier, but just because I wasn't aware of the existence of these kinds of built-in solutions. This seems to simplify the matter a lot!

Excellent tutorial. I’d like to use something like this to measure the torque of an auger drive for screw piling.

is there a simple way to convert the voltage from the module to strain? i found no data sheet nor formular for this module. still nice video

good explanation... but may you show how do you connect that small circuit to the bar? I don't get it

How accurate are these strain guages? Could they possibly be used to measure the expansion of a metal tube over the course of an evening as the temperature outside changes?

I have a question: If he has a ruler made of aluminum or iron, should I clean the ruler with 80 grains of silicon carbide before applying strain?

This might be a silly question, but would apply a strain gauge like this work on curved surfaces? Like for example, a bowl?

thank you sir, if i may ask. how do i know the amplifier gain that used in the module?

Great video. I am wondering why don’t you use hx711 with 3 constant resistors to establish a Wheatstone bridge.

I have a load cell with strain gauges attached to the top and bottom, but the wires have been removed. How can I tell which of the "pads" go to which of the wires? It is hard to tell from your video because my strain gauges are different.

hello, thanks for this video. So, I have a strain gauge with amplifier connected to the Arduino circuit. i am able to read some numbers from the strain gague but it's not the forces or the mass. do you know how i can make Arduino convert whatever the strain gauge is reading to mass?

Very good video! I would like to know whatever is the graphics software used. Is this graphics software available?

If I may ask.. Could it be used in universal testing machine (UTM) and measure the strain of material under testing of UTM?

How would I connect multiple strain gauges on the metal bar in a wheatstone configuration? Thanks!

Does this software communicate directly with the STM32 board?
